Students, staff, parents and families are invited to join in the fun and wear colourful socks, odd socks, short socks, long socks or any socks to school this Wednesday 23rd October and bring in a donation to support the work of Catholic Mission. This is just one of the many examples of Social Justice in action at our wonderful school.
On Thursday, our Mini Vinnies' Year 6 Leaders and their parents took part in our annual cook up with the three Westernport Parish Primary Schools. In under 2 hours we made over 160 meals, which will be distributed to people in our community who need a helping hand, whether this be a new baby, illness or death in the family.
We thank chef, Matt Demarte, for leading this wonderful faith-filled social justice in action evening, and Padua for allowing us to use their food technology facilities.
This is one of the many ways we are an example of Jesus' love and see a need and take action in our school. If you or someone you know would benefit from one of these meals made with love, please see Miss Dullard at school or email ndullard@smhastings.catholic.edu.au
Please take some time to read and reflect on our Faith theme for the fortnight: Celebrating The Wider Church Community.
Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop ~ Quote of the week
As we continue to journey with Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop each day at St Mary's, let us live out her wise and comforting words: "We have much for which to be thankful". Mary MacKillop, 1875.
How does this quote resonate with you?
What are you grateful for today?
How can you apply it to your life?
Joining approximately 200 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from 20 schools across the Mornington Peninsula, our St Mary's students had such a wonderful day at the Koorie Kids Day Out at Willum Warrain on Friday.
Our students participated in a fun, hands on dance workshop with Indigenous Outreach Projects as well as an art activity exploring Aboriginal symbols to tell a story. It was a fantastic day of celebrating First Nations people and cultures.
