What’s happening in Year 3
MCG Excursion
Last week, the Year 3’s visited the MCG. As part of our Geography unit, the students have been learning about natural and manmade landmarks located in Australia. On this excursion, students explored an iconic Victorian landmark, the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The students went on a guided tour of the MCG to understand its history, how the landmark is used and why it is so iconic to Australians. The students were able to stand on the ground and walked down the race into the changerooms like real football players! They saw all the behind-the-scenes of the MCG including the press conference/ media room, where the commentators sit and where the coaches speak to the players. The students also had the opportunity to explore the Australian Sports Museum located in the MCG, to learn about the great sporting moments that Australians have experienced over the years. We saw memorabilia from cricket, the Olympics, the AFL and horse racing. We had an awesome day!
Woodlands Division Athletics Report
Tuesday saw Our Lady’s Primary School shine on the track and field!
Seventeen of our amazing students took part in the Woodlands Division Athletics Championships, and what a day it was! With over 100 schools competing, the atmosphere was electric, and the weather couldn’t have been better – sunny skies, perfect for a day of athletic excellence.
From the first event to the last, our students demonstrated not only their impressive skill and determination but also their unwavering school spirit. Whether they were sprinting down the track, leaping through the air, or throwing for distance, the team gave it their all. What really stood out was the way they cheered each other on, showing incredible sportsmanship and embodying what it means to be part of the Our Lady’s family.
And let’s talk about results! Our athletes walked away with plenty of blue ribbons, a testament to their hard work and dedication. We couldn’t be prouder of their efforts and achievements. Special mention must go to the ten students who have qualified for the Northern Metropolitan Region Athletics Championships next term. We’ll be cheering you on and can’t wait to see what you accomplish next!
A huge thank you to all the parents who supported us on the day – your encouragement from the sidelines makes all the difference.
Congratulations to all our athletes for a fantastic day!
