Term 3 has been busy in the Careers Office for Year 12 VTAC enquiries and course counselling and Year 10 subject and program/course selections for next year. A reminder to Year 12's that VTAC timely applications close on 30 September (during the school holidays) and SEAS applications close 11 October.
A reminder to Year 10's that if you are considering the VCE VM or SBAT programs, you will be required to complete two weeks of work experience. If you are having any trouble finding employers to do your work experience with, please let me know. Year 10's who wish to apply for a VET course in 2025 - if you did not put in a timely application for your VET course, you will now be on a waitlist and considered for your chosen course next term. These applications are dependent on whether there are any places available after first round offers. If you did not return your form to me by the due date, you will be on a waitlist. Timely applicants will be advised of their place in early Term 4. Late applicants may not hear until the end of Term 4.
All Year 2 VET course applicants (upcoming Year 12's) are automatically re-enrolled into their course for 2025. Your enrolment will be confirmed in due course, likely at the start of Term 4.
As always if you have any questions or need further information, attend my office in the library, or ask your teacher if you can come and see me and we can arrange a time to meet and discuss your queries. 2025 WORK EXPERIENCE EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST AT PARLIAMENT OF VICTORIA
Have you ever wanted a behind-the-scenes look at how our Parliament works?
Expressions of interest to complete a work experience placement at the Parliament of Victoria in Terms 1 and 2 2025 are now open.

Students can choose between two programs, Sitting and Services.
Parliamentary Sitting placements provide the opportunity to see the law-making process up close. Students will go behind the scenes with the staff who directly support Parliament sittings, to get a deeper understanding of our democratic processes.
Parliamentary Services placements offer a variety of opportunities that can be matched with a broad range of student interests and career goals, including business operations, facilities management and maintenance, broadcast (Hansard), and hospitality (kitchen).
YEAR 10
SWINBURNE TRY TAFE EVENT
Swinburne is holding their final Try TAFE event for the year where students can speak to TAFE teachers about their further study and tour the plumbing and carpentry barns.

WORK EXPERIENCE FOR VCE VM OR SBAT IN 2025
A reminder to Year 10s who wish to apply for a school-based apprenticeship, you will need to arrange a second week of work experience in the industry you wish to obtain your apprenticeship or traineeship. If you are having difficulties finding a placement, please see Ms Aligizakis in the Careers Office for some help.

FREE Real XPerience virtual incursion streaming on Wednesday 23 October 2024
How to turn your passion for gaming into a career pathway through the VCE Vocational Major and Vocational Education and Training (VET).
About the event
The department and games and culture experience company Fortress Melbourne will deliver the 45-minute interactive online event. It will showcase relevant careers available to students, from games developer to digital artist. Students will learn how to link their schooling to growth industries such as:
The event will be co-hosted by video games commentator Gemma Driscoll, from ABC television’s Good Game: Spawn Point and a guest from Melbourne International Games Week. Guest speakers will include VCE Vocational Major students. All students who join the live stream broadcast from school will be entered in the draw to win a one-of-a-kind experience as part of the crew of an eSports event hosted by Fortress, or entry to future gaming events. YEAR 10 & 11
You are invited to attend our Deakin Accelerate Webinar, aimed at Year 10 and 11 students and their parents. Deakin Accelerate is a unique VCE extension studies program designed to challenge high-achieving students with university-level learning opportunities. Students will study one unit per trimester at one of Deakin’s four physical campuses – or they can take advantage of our premium online learning platform. Deakin Accelerate contributes as a fifth or sixth subject that goes towards student’s ATAR results. Completing Deakin Accelerate also allows them to gain university credit and reduce the cost and duration of their future degree at Deakin. They’ll also receive a boost towards their ATAR.
