Computer Use

The College 'Acceptable Computer Use Policy' must be signed by parents/carers and students on enrolment. In brief, the policy states that students will respect the College Computer facilities and use them responsibly for school use only. Unacceptable use, such as accessing inappropriate websites or improper use of email facilities will result in the student's access to the computer network being denied for a period of time. Other sanctions in line with the Student Code of Conduct may also apply.

Student Email and Password Information

Students will be given a school email address which is essential for staying in touch with teachers and classmates. It allows access to educational tools and resources, and facilitates collaboration on group projects and document sharing. Each account is secured with a randomly generated password, and students are encouraged to keep their passwords safe. Login details will be provided to each student and can be downloaded from their Compass page.

Compass

Compass is a school management system that helps keep everything organised.

Parents can easily check their child’s attendance, academic results, as well as school updates through the Compass app. Parents can also log any student absence notes via Compass.

Students can see their timetables, class lesson plans, submit their assignments and track their progress. They can also view their reports, receive announcements and see real-time updates on school events.

Compass Newsfeed

Important information about each day's program is published on a student's Compass Newsfeed. Important notices can also be viewed on a number of TV monitors. Students should make sure they are aware of the contents of their Compass Newsfeed.

Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is a staff and student collaboration platform. It is used as a virtual classrooms, where teachers can share materials, and manage assignments. Students can collaborate on projects, participate in group chats, and submit their work. It also facilitates communication between teachers and students and supports extracurricular activities such as sports clubs. At Norwood, we also run our Parent Teacher Conferences on Microsoft Teams so parents can attend remotely for their convenience.

Printing and Photocopying

At the start of each year, students will receive $25 in printing credit, which is enough to print over 800 A4 pages. If additional credit is needed throughout the year, it can be easily added at the General Office. Students have access to four different printers/photocopiers which are conveniently located across the school grounds.
