Hands on Learning

Program Expectations and Consequences of Non-Compliance

The Hands-On program aims to promote student engagement, improve attendance, and allow students to experience success through hands-on projects. The program will focus on practical skill development, connectedness to school, self-regulation, communication skills, and aims to build positive self-esteem.

Students sign a contract agreeing to fully commit to the Hands-On program. Involvement in the program requires consistent attendance and active participation to maximise its benefits for both the student and others involved in the program.

Program Expectations

  • Attendance: Students are expected to attend all sessions of the Hands-On program, which will run for three periods, one morning or afternoon per week. Attendance is crucial for the success of the program, and students should make every effort to be punctual and present at school every day to maintain 90% attendance.
  • Active Participation: Students should actively engage in all program activities and projects. They are encouraged to collaborate with their peers, ask questions, and contribute to the success of the projects to the best of their ability.
  • Respect: All participants, teachers, and staff should be treated with respect and courtesy. Maintaining a positive and respectful atmosphere is essential for a productive learning environment.
  • Responsibility: Students should come prepared for each session with any necessary materials. If a student is unable to attend a session, they should inform the program coordinator or teacher in advance.
  • Adherence to School Rules: Students must adhere to all school rules and policies while participating in the program. Any violations of school rules may result in exclusion from the program.

Consequences of Non-Compliance

If a student fails to attend all program sessions or meet program expectations, they may forfeit their position in the Hands-On program.
