Sounds pretty good doesn’t it! On Wednesday our Worship Actors, sleuths from the ‘International Spy Academy’, were searching for clues all over the place. They collected various pieces of what turned out to be a puzzle...

These included a picture of the world, people representing all nations of the earth, the name ‘Jesus’, a butterfly with letters spelling out ‘life’ and a heart. Once assembled the ‘clues’ fitted together in the shape of a cross. Our sleuths then discovered the bible text that brought it altogether:

For this is how God loved the world. He gave his one and only Son. So that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16 NLT)

Here’s what they ‘pieced together’:

Jesus is God’s Son.

The cross shows how much we are loved. God sent his Son to die for our sin so that we could be with him.

The invitation is open to everyone... from all nations. Anyone who believes in him will receive the gift of eternal life.

Jesus first spoke these words to a pharisee named Nicodemus. They met under the cover of darkness. Nicodemus was a respected member of a group that many looked up to. His group thought they had all the pieces together, that they knew all about God. But that night Jesus gently confronted Nicodemus’ long held beliefs and traditions... and it had an impact.

God’s love is for the whole world. He is so invested and committed to the precious people He created that He went to astounding lengths. He gave up his own Son to pay the penalty of sin. We cannot pay for or earn our way back to him. Jesus suffered, died (and rose again)! All we get to do is believe in the One God sent (that’s Jesus) and receive the gift of eternal life. Membership paid for... with no expiry date! We are loved that much!

How might this good news influence your day today?

God bless you with His love and peace!
