Student and Staff Wellbeing

Canine Comprehension

Canine Comprehension is continuuing to be a success across all sub schools so far this year.

Primary Sub School

All of our Primary sub school students and staff eagerly await George and Judy's arrival each week. As they move from room to room, they are always greeted with smiling faces and lots of excitement. Students are provided the opportunity to spend some 1:1 time with George and ask any questions they have about George or how to look after a dog. Students also have the chance to give George some treats and lots of pats.

Middle and Secondary Sub Schools

This week, students were provided the opportunity to consolidate their understanding of the different emotions. Students were given the choice of three different activities related to emotions including emotions 'SNAP!', emotions bingo and a range of activity sheets about dog and human emotions and how to care for a dog. Some students even got Victor to perform some tricks and had him practise his agility jumps. Whilst playing games, students were practising waiting, taking turns and being a supportive team mate. Group members had discussions about their excitement and nerves when playing the games. Students then  were supporting each other to use self-calming techniques including deep breathing.
