Whole School Activities

NECOM Orchestrta

Our orchestra program has commenced with the support of the New England Conservatorium of Music (NECOM) in Armidale.  Paul Marshall works at our school every Friday to teach our students how to play the trumpet, saxophone, flute, trombone and clarinet.   Here are some photos of students in Lower Division.

Assembly

Thank you to everyone who came along to our first assembly for 2024.  It was wonderful to see so many families come along and support us.  Our next assembly will be held on Thursday 28th March, the day before Easter. We will hold our Easter Hat Parade on this day.

Rocky River School Garden Program

Our gardens are flourishing with the warm weather and recent rain.  Our students are actively involved in making sure the gardens are watered and maintained.

Science Programs from UNE

Our science programs with the University of New England are well under way.  Each week have a visit from Brendan Jacobs from UNE to work with either Lower Division or Upper Division on STEM activities. This week, Upper Division commenced their program on Micro bit.

Science and Discovery Day at UNE

Students in Years 5 and 6 were invited to attend the UNE/Newcastle University Science and Discovery Day at UNE yesterday.  Our students joined with Uralla Central School to form a team to compete against 9 other schools. We were tasked with designing timetables, planes that could actually fly with the help of Boeing launchers, create a building that could withstand an earthquake and designing a bridge that could carry weights.
