Principal's Report
School Council
School Councils play a key role in Victorian government schools, and being a member of the school council is a rewarding and challenging experience. Acting as a team, council supports the Principal to provide the best possible educational outcomes for students.
Each councillor brings their own valuable life skills and knowledge to the role. Councillors participate in developing the broad direction and vision for the school, interpreting data or financial statements, and understanding legislative and policy requirements.
I am very pleased to announce that the following parents, student and Department of Education (DET) staff will form the 2024 School Council of Greensborough College.

College Leaders’ Induction Ceremony
Congratulations to our College leaders who were recently inducted into their roles by Colin Brooks, MP for Bundoora and Kate Lansbury, School Council President. We have amazing leaders who have already made an impact this year. Many of them have been on school tours with prospective families this term and led school assemblies. The SRC conducted an Easter Fun Day and House Captains have played significant roles at the Swimming and Athletics Carnival. We look forward to working with our College leaders to make a difference in a range of areas this year.
Explore Showcase
On Tuesday 16th April, prospective families are invited into the College to explore our teaching and learning programs. Students will be dismissed at 1.30 pm and the College will be open to the community from 5.30 pm. There will be a subject fair and school tours until 7.00pm. This will be followed by a presentation of the College’s key achievements and highlights in the Performing Arts Centre. At 7.30 pm there will be an information session about our Athletic Development Program. Please share this information with your families, friends and other networks.
Farewells
This week we said goodbye to our Business Manager, Kerri Trevaskis, who has decided to retire. Kerri has been in education for the past 15 years having made the change from the corporate world. In 2020, Kerri started at Greensborough College and during that year of remote teaching and learning and the pandemic, Kerri successfully navigated building relationships with staff and introducing refined processes around budgets and finances. Kerri has played a significant role in the leadership team particularly around the two building programs that were completed during her time here at the College. We thank Kerri for all of her work at Greensborough College and in education and we wish her all the best for retirement.
Natalia Mazza, who joined us this year as a Maths teacher, will take family leave at the beginning of term 2. We wish Natalia and her partner all the best for the impending birth and for parenthood and we look forward to her return in 2025.
Year 9 classes for Term 2
The College has reallocated some Year 9 classes from the start of term 2. This has occurred so that all classes in the school will have a teacher from the beginning of the term.
Due to the reduced number of students in Year 9, planned long term leave for teachers and the teacher shortage we have reduced from five to four Year 9 classes in English, Mathematics, Humanities and Connect. Students from one class will be redistributed across the four classes. This will be carried out by the Junior School team. Assessment and reports will not be affected.
Parents/carers can still book parent-teacher interviews with the term 1 teacher.
We thank you for your support as we allocate the College resources fairly and equitably.
Term Break
Thank you to staff, students and families for your contribution to making the first term a positive start to the school year. We wish you all the best for the Easter season and the term break.
Take care and be safe.
