Visual Art News

We’ve been as busy as usual in Visual Art this week, finishing off our self portraits and refining our observational drawing techniques.

Have a look at Ava’s incredible drawing of a mother and child by a hill. Ava has quietly and diligently worked so hard on her drawing skills and what terrific progress.

All grades were invited to contribute to the pile of beautiful artworks that we have been compiling, to present to our new Macedon Leading Senior Constable; Erik Woods next week. Constable Woods is going to visit our school to collect the artworks for display in the Police Station. The students have been VERY keen to contribute and there are a LOT of artworks so he might be busy rotating them on the walls for the rest of the year. Whilst he is here, some classes will have the chance to hear a little bit about his very important role in our community. What a terrific opportunity for our students!

Grades Prep to Two students watched an amazing ‘Animusic’ videa called “Resonant Chamber” featuring an imaginary guitar with crab arms operating it and thought about the possibilities in animation. We heard the picture story book; ‘When Henry Caught Imaginitis’ written and illustrated by Nick Bland. So many funny things happened to Henry with rampaging “imaginitis” and we used this beautiful story to stimulate our own imaginitis in our drawings.

Check out Jack’s drawing of his home on a cloud and Stella flying around the sun. Then there’s Lenny’s beetle stuck on the moon and Edward has REALLY caught imaginitis with this terrific drawing!
