Dear Sunbury College community

 

Sunbury College has a range of policies that play a fundamental role in how our school operates. These policies promote a safe, orderly, and respectful environment for our school community, that focuses on positive student learning and wellbeing outcomes. These policies follow Department of Education policies and guidance.

The following is a range of policies we ask our school community to be aware of at the beginning of the school year.

 

Anaphylaxis Policy

The purpose of this policy is to explain to Sunbury College parents, carers, staff and students the processes and procedures in place to support students diagnosed as being at risk of suffering from anaphylaxis. This policy also ensures that Sunbury College is compliant with Ministerial Order 706 and the Department’s guidelines for anaphylaxis management.

 

Asthma Policy

The purpose of this policy is to ensure that Sunbury College appropriately supports students diagnosed with asthma.

 

Camps and excursions Policy

The purpose of this policy is to explain to our school community the processes and procedures Sunbury College will use when planning and conducting camps, excursions, and adventure activities for students.

 

Complaints Policy

The purpose of this policy is to: 

  • provide an outline of the complaints process at Sunbury College so that students, parents and members of the community are informed of how they can raise complaints or concerns about issues arising at our school 
  • ensure that all complaints and concerns regarding Sunbury College are managed in a timely, effective, fair and respectful manner.

Digital Learning (Internet, Social Media and Digital Devices)

The purpose of the policy is to ensure that all students and members of our school community understand: 

  1. our commitment to providing students with the opportunity to benefit from digital technologies to support and enhance learning and development at school including our 1-to-1 bring your own personal device program 
  2. expected student behaviour when using digital technologies including the internet, social media, and digital devices (including computers, laptops, tablets) 
  3. the school’s commitment to promoting safe, responsible and discerning use of digital technologies, and educating students on appropriate responses to any dangers or threats to wellbeing that they may encounter when using the internet and digital technologies 
  4. our school’s policies and procedures for responding to inappropriate student behaviour on digital technologies and the internet 
  5. the various Department policies on digital learning, including social media, that our school follows and implements when using digital technology 
  6. our school prioritises the safety of students whilst they are using digital technologies.

First Aid policy

The purpose of the policy is to ensure the school community understands our school’s approach to first aid for students.

 

Health Care Needs Policy

The purpose of the policy is to ensure that Sunbury College provides appropriate support to students with health care needs.

 

Homework Policy

The purpose of this policy is to outline to students, parents/carers and school staff Sunbury College’s expectations for homework and at-home learning.

 

Respect for School Staff Policy

The purpose of this policy is to ensure that members of our community understand Sunbury College’s expectations for appropriate interactions with school staff.

 

Statement of Values and School Philosophy

The purpose of this policy is to outline the values of our school community and explain the vision, mission and objectives of our school.

 

Yard Duty and Supervision Policy

The purpose of this policy is to ensure staff at Sunbury College understand their supervision and yard duty responsibilities. Appropriate supervision is an important strategy to monitor student behaviour and enables staff to identify and respond to possible risks at school as they arise. It also plays a vital role in helping schools to discharge their duty of care to students.
