Year 9 and 10

A peek into Year 9 and 10 activities this term

As a middle school team, we want to say thank you and well done on a great start for the year.

So far students have achieved a lot in the first five weeks of Term 1. Swimming Carnival, Outdoor Education excursions, Science excursions, Work Habit Ratings and External Academic mechanic programs have all been accessed and participated in by our middle school students.

A big congratulations to all those who took part in the swimming carnival. It was a hot day, but the atmosphere and participation meant we saw some great athleticism by our students, and also some real camaraderie.

As the year progresses Year 10 students will be undergoing work experience, Assessment tasks and course counselling. It's an important time to remind all year 10s that work experience is in late term 2 and all jobs need to be obtained by the students and their families. Paperwork for this can be obtained by speaking to Ms. Cheeseman.

Year 9 students also have several experiences coming up, including some excursions and NAPLAN. Year 9 families are reminded that exemption notes must be in as soon as possible to our Assistant Principal Rebecca Annetts.

We look forward to sharing our upcoming year with you all and are excited to see all the great things our Middle School students will achieve.

Outdoor Education Year 10

On Monday the Yr10 OED class went on a snorkelling trip down at Queenscliff and had a great time. Students got to see and swim with Seals while at Chinaman’s hat. After Chinaman’s hat we moved on to Pope’s eye, where students got to see and swim in a more diverse ecosystem, with Australasian Gannets, colourful reef fish and corals, all calling Pope’s eye home. On the way back to dock students got the chance to do roof jumps from the boat and hang from the rope net along side the boat.

Road to Zero

On Friday 16th and Monday 19th Feb, 3 year 10 Science classes travelled to Melbourne Museum to participate the Road to Zero Experience. The program used virtual reality to help raise awareness about road trauma. It aims to reduce casualties to zero and helps young drivers learn about safe decisions on the road. It was great day out, we really enjoyed it. Thanks to Ms Cosoleto for organising it.
