Cricket

What a nail-biter! The First XI Cricket match against Monivae had the crowd on the edge of their seats last Sunday! College student Isaac Shaw scored 82 runs in a match-winning partnership with Eli Hunter (48). But it was Captain Jack Wortley who stole the show, smashing a six on the last ball to secure the victory!

Final scores: College 207, Monivae 202.

Congratulations to ‘Man of the Match’ Issac Shaw and Tom Heazlewood for his two wickets!

Athletics

With Athletics Day soon approaching, we will start having training every Tuesday and Thursday to prepare. These trainings will start Tuesday 27 February and continue through until Tuesday 7 May.

To begin with, Tuesday’s training will be held after school and will focus on running events, and Thursdays will be during lunchtime and focus on field events.

Those who want to train on Thursday lunch times will have time at the end to each lunch and get changed, the training will not go for the whole of lunch.

Students don’t have to attend both trainings, but we encourage everyone to attend at least once a week. We will send out more information about the training on TEAMS so students can keep an eye out for that.

The aim of these training can be to prepare and practice for our upcoming school athletics carnival, GD athletics and ICCES, or they can be used as preseason training or just as a form of exercise. We will have some planned running drills that students can participate in, or they are welcome to do independent training, and anyone is welcome to give it a go!

Info re: lake closure and algae bloom

See the communication below from the council.

'...I’ve had word back from the EHO, who has advised that historically, it has taken quite a while for the blue-green algae levels to come back down. Quite a while, being weeks and potentially months. I’ve been told that we rely on the rain to dilute the waterway and raise the level to be able to flush it, however with no rain on the forecast we don’t know how long to expect the lake to remain unusable.'

As a College, we will follow the direction of the EHO and will not partake in water sessions until we have permission. This is a shame so close to the State Championship weekend and Head of Schoolgirls.

Learn to Row

A modified learn-to-row will be offered - don't hesitate to contact Miss Dixon or Miss Quinsey to sign up.
