COVID Cases on the Rise

The last few weeks have seen an increase in the number of COVID cases in our learning community. We ask all parents to be vigilant. If your child exhibits symptoms of fatigue, sore throat, congestion, runny nose, headache, body aches or cough, please keep them at home and administer precautionary COVID tests.

YEAR 5/6 Camp

The Year 5/6 camp to The Outside Inn at the Wannon was a great success. Some challenging weather was thrown our way, but the students and staff displayed optimism and resilience in dealing with major changes to the program. Over the period of the camp, students participated in mountain bike riding, bushwalking, tower games, disc golf, abseiling, climbing and a giant swing. It was an opportunity for new students to make friendships and for the staff and students to get to know each other via a range of outdoor activities. As we know, life begins at the end of your comfort zone. Many students pushed their personal comfort zones on camp, as they took on new challenges. Many thanks to Mrs. Keiller and Mrs. Bell for their generous support, encouragement and care of the Year 5/6 students.

STAR Students

The following students were presented with Star Student awards at this week’s Assembly.

Year 1 - Ted Bufton for being a focused and attentive listener and for always working hard on learning tasks. What a great start to Year 1!

Year 2 - Sanvi Bhutani for her positive attitude towards her learning.

Year 5 - Livvy Bell for settling into her new school and class so well and working diligently in all classroom tasks.  Liv is usually first finished her work; her work is always of a high standard, and she seeks additional work from the teacher.  She is also helpful and kind to all her classmates.

Pizzicato Strings

Part of our rich musical offering at the Junior School is the Pizzicato Strings Orchestra. At lunchtime on Wednesdays, cello, violin, viola and double-bass players will join Mr. Singh and Mrs. Christie in the Music Room for regular rehearsals. This orchestra will perform at the Hamilton Eisteddfod and the Junior School Speech Day.

House Athletics

Next Friday, 8 March, Berry, Laidlaw, Learmonth and Young will battle it out for the House Athletics trophy. Held at Myrniong, the day will commence at 9.00 am. The Parents' and Friends' will again provide aBBQ.  Any parent helpers would be greatly appreciated.

Our Piccino students will join us for a 50m race. There is also the traditional Parents v Staff relay at 2.00 pm. The Junior School staff are confident of a quinella, having won the swimming relay last week. Bring your runners and join in the fun.

 Continuous Reporting Parent Information Session

On Thursday 7 March, a Continuous Reporting Parent Information Session will be run in the Junior School meeting room at 10.30 am. This year, we have moved to a new system of Continuous Reporting. The aim of the meeting is to explain this transition and answer any questions from parents. We look forward to seeing you next Thursday.

Frozen Trivia

In the lead up to our Term Four musical ‘Frozen Jr’, we will pose a series of trivia questions for students to answer. This week’s question - ‘Frozen’ is based on which story by Hans Christian Andersen?

Students can post their answers into the House letterboxes in the hallway of the homestead. A winner will be drawn from the pool of correct entries.

Frozen Jr

Excitement is in the air as we gear up for auditions for our upcoming musical, Frozen Jr.!

This promises to be an unforgettable journey filled with magic, music, and plenty of fun.

Audition Times: It is exciting to see audition slots are being booked! Remember to book your audition time using your school email account. If you encounter any issues, Nat is happy to assist you with booking your audition slot.

Audition Dance Videos: The audition dance videos are now available on the OneDrive folder titled 'Dance Videos'. The selected section is set to the dance break section of 'Hygge', and it's a quick-paced routine. We encourage you to start by practicing each move slowly, ensuring you understand the choreography. As you gain confidence, gradually increase your speed and aim to piece together the entire routine seamlessly. And remember, don't forget to wear your biggest smile as you dance your heart out! Keep practicing, and we can't wait to witness your fantastic auditions at the end of term.
