Mr Butts' Announcements

Last week the children took part in Ash Wednesday liturgies to mark the commencement of Lent. During Lent we are reminded that it is a time to reflect on our lives and make the choices Jesus would want us to make.
Tahlia, myself and some Gr 3/4 students attended the National Apology breakfast in Shepparton last week. Many local school students and community representatives attended.
Our Opening Mass was a beautiful celebration last week. Thank you to all those who took part, especially Mrs Hicks for organising the liturgy.
A letter has been emailed to parents and carers regarding the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
In recent years, the amount of specialists visiting St Mary’s has increased significantly. We are asking families and specialists to please contact the office to make appointments at least 7 days ahead of schedule.
This will ensure we have time to prepare for the appointment and inform the teaching staff that the visit is taking place. Most importantly St Mary’s is required to adhere to relevant Child Safety procedures.
I appreciate everyone's understanding regarding this.
A big thank you to the St Mary's Golden Oldies group who donated some money towards our Breakfast program recently. Thanks for thinking of us!
We were all very disappointed with the Gr 5/6 having to return from the camp at Roses Gap. Obviously, the safety of the students and staff was our main priority and when the weather forecast changed so dramatically there was no other decision but to return. Thank you to the staff for handling the situation so well and to all parents and carers for your support. We are going to reschedule the camp for later in the year.
Week 2 - 12th February
Nyoka Winmar-Saunders
Nyoka is an extremely helpful, courteous and considerate student. She is self motivated to get the best out of herself and plays happily in the playground. Nyoka is also very proud of her aboriginal heritage and shares her knowledge with those around her. Well done Nyoka!
Week 4 - 19th February
Alex Lloyd
Alex is a very cooperative and responsible student with excellent manners. I was particularly impressed when Alex volunteered at the last minute to read at a school mass with little preparation. What a confident young person! Well done Alex!
Please note that this Friday 23rd February is a pupil free day. The staff are spending the day learning about student wellbeing.
