Visual Art @ Syndal South

Students across the school have settled into Art classes well. We’ve started the year with a focus on drawing.

In Foundation students have been exploring different drawing materials and creating beautiful artwork. Here are some of their self-portraits.

In Years 1 and 2 students investigated different lines and used their imaginations to make their own starting point drawing. Students also explored mark making with oil pastels and took inspiration from Jim Dine’s heart artwork to create their own beautiful heart artwork. The students had fun using black paper and white pencils to create fantastic spotlight night drawings.

In Years 3 and 4 students revised different lines, shapes and patterns and created beautiful origami booklets showcasing their knowledge of these elements. Students also investigated the pencil drawings of Anna Bron and then took inspiration from her work to create their own ‘shady’ monsters. This week they’ve met the challenge of copying a picture that’s upside down.

In Years 5 and 6 students demonstrated their knowledge of different lines, shapes and patterns in mindful neurographic drawings. They also looked at the features of Pop Art and then applied their knowledge to create fabulous colourful Chupa Chup oil pastel artwork. This week students have drawn a still life pencil drawing from three different perspectives.

Well done everyone for creating beautiful artwork!
