Mid-Year Reports
Next week, you will be able to download your child’s mid-year report via the nForma Parent Portal. The report is a summary of how your child is progressing in their learning so far this year, across the different learning areas in the Victorian Curriculum.
Each week, our teachers plan, teach and assess the learning of students in their class against the Victorian Curriculum. The curriculum sets out the knowledge and skills every student should learn during their first 11 years of schooling to become lifelong learners, confident individuals, and active and informed citizens prepared to navigate a diverse and changing world.
The Report Layout
The report will include assessments for children against the following Learning Areas.
Religious Education
English
Mathematics
Integrated Curriculum
Visual Arts
Italian
Physical Education
Wellbeing
Depending on what the students have been learning in their Integrated unit, the learning areas will differ from semester to semester but cover the areas of Humanities, Science, Technologies, The Arts and Capabilities.
Each subject area has a similar layout in the report. There will be an achievement score for the learning area based on the curriculum achievement standards, as well as descriptors about what was taught and your child’s level of achievement against the descriptor.
Teachers use various assessment strategies and tools to gather evidence of student achievement. They then make an overall judgment to determine the most appropriate achievement score that reflects what students know, understand, and can do according to the achievement standard.
Portfolios
Your child will bring home their portfolio at the end of the term. Please use this to discuss your child’s learning with them. This will be an accompaniment to the mid-year report.
