Italian

During Term Two in Italian, students in Grade 5/6 continued to exchange greetings using basic modelled words and sentences. We have increased our vocabulary and practised writing and speaking using appropriate intonation and pronunciation.
We made pop-up cards with messages for our mum or a special person during "La Festa della Mamma" (Mother's Day)
We further expanded our identification of colours in Italian and used them to write and read simple sentences.
We played TOMBOLA (Bingo) to practise our recognition and pronunciation of numbers to 100 and we are learning to identify days of the week, months and seasons of the year.
Students were very interested and curious about recent events that have taken place in Italy during the term, especially the eruption of the Mt Etna volcano in Sicily and the "Festa della Repubblica" on June 2nd to celebrate the 1946 transition from monarchy to a republic in Italy.
During Term Two students in Grade3/4 continued to exchange greetings using basic modelled words and sentences. We have increased our vocabulary and practised writing and speaking using appropriate intonation and pronunciation.

We have been learning many of the shapes in Italian and drew pictures of aliens and constructed paper rockets using the different shapes. We practised naming the colour, name and number of the shapes in Italian and tried counting backwards from ten to zero and "PARTITO!! (Blast off!)
We are now learning to tell the time to the hour in Italian and had great fun playing "Che ore sono Signor Lupo?" (What's the time Mr Wolf?) This has helped us to consolidate our number recognition and pronunciation.
