Art

This term, our Prep students have been learning all about lines in Visual Art. They’ve explored different types of lines such as straight, wavy, zigzag, curly, and dotted. Through fun drawing activities and guided discussions, students have learned to describe the lines they see and create. It’s been wonderful watching them develop their art vocabulary and confidence in expressing their ideas through line work.

Our Grade 1/2 students have been building on their understanding of primary and secondary colours. They’ve explored the difference between warm and cool colours, and experimented with using them to create mood and contrast in their artwork. Students have also experimented with complementary colours and enjoyed discovering how colours can stand out and work together in exciting ways.

Our Grade 3/4 students have been learning the art of printmaking. They explored how to create bold designs using shape, line, colour, texture, and contrast. Students experimented with different printing techniques and materials, creating repeated patterns and layered prints. They’ve embraced the challenge of reversing images and thinking ahead to how their designs will transfer – just like real printmakers!

Our Grade 4/5/6 students have been diving into the world of sculpture this term. They began by exploring the art elements involved in 3D artwork, focusing on form and space. Inspired by gesture and the human figure, students created dynamic foil sculptures that captured movement and expression. They then applied their learning to air-dry clay, experimenting with clay techniques to build their own unique sculptures. It’s been a hands-on, creative journey from drawing to form.
