Mrs Kylie Bryant - Principal
As we fast approach the end of Term 2 our teachers have been busy assessing student progress and writing Semester One reports. As mentioned in previous newsletters, we are moving to a new reporting template following the release of the first statewide report for public schools. We hope you find the new report informative and easy to read. Reports will be published via the School Bytes Parent Portal in week 10. I encourage you to check that you have access before this time, and if not, reach out to our office, who will be able to assist you.
In the last two weeks, we have had some significant events that have brought our community together, none greater than the Book Fair. This is the first book fair Roselea has had in a number of years, and after the huge success, it is sure to make a yearly appearance. Across the week, we sold $8056 worth of books, which is absolutely phenomenal for a school our size. As a result of our students' love for books, we received $2262.50 in rewards to spend on new books for our library. I would like to thank our entire community for their support, and I hope your houses are currently filled with eager readers! Special thank you to Mrs Vassilla who spent countless hours preparing and running this event, along with all the staff who supported and facilitated the smooth running of the fair.
We were also fortunate to have a visit from the Navy Band, which was a huge highlight for our students, in particular our band students, who participated in workshops throughout the day. It is terrific for our students to be able to see what their hard work and dedication can lead to, as well as have the pleasure of listening to so many talented musicians. Thank you to our P&C Band Committee for organising such a great experience.
As we come towards the end of the term, I want to inform you that we will be running several Health and Safety drills over the last three weeks of the term. These are part of our mandatory training and compliance, and provide opportunities for both staff and students to know what to do in the case of an emergency. This round of drills will be notified with staff and students prepared before the event. Next term, the drills will not be scheduled and publicised to see how staff and students respond without warning; again, this is an integral part of our training as a school.
Finally on Saturday night, I was joined by a keen group of knowledgeable staff (well, maybe not so trivia knowledgeable after the results) to join many of you at the annual P&C Trivia Night. It was a great night filled with lots of laughs and lots of interesting and quirky knowledge that only seems relevant at a trivia night, but sure makes a difference to whether you win or not. Thank you to the P&C for planning the event and for the countless hours that go into preparing behind the scenes. We are very fortunate as a school to have a P&C and community eager to run and participate in events; they truly help us create a real sense of community.
