Principal's Message

We’ve had a big couple of weeks of fundraisers at Billanook.

First, we had the longest line of coins event to raise money for some comfortable seating in the Library. This was a fantastic initiative that was led by our Literacy leaders.  We can share with our community that thanks to the wonderful efforts of our Billanook families we raised $2000. The Literacy leaders will organise some comfortable bean bags and soft furnishings to ensure the Library remains a popular spot for Billanook children to read.

The second fundraiser we held was the special ‘Laney Day’ event that was held this week. It was lovely to see so many children dressed in bright colours for the day. It was a free dress day with a gold coin donation. We raised nearly $1200 which will go towards purchasing something fun for Laney to play with at home.

A big thankyou to Elise Hall for organising the day, including the Camp Quality puppet shows and to Charise (Ellie’s Mum from FDC) for organising the video so that the day could be shared with Laney.

Parking in Gordon Avenue no standing zones

Another carparking reminder! We have had a few complaints from residents in Gordon Ave regarding families parking in the no standing zones in their street.

We also have families that are meeting children at the bottom of Gordon Avenue and doing a 3 point turn to leave the street. It’s really important that everyone remains safe on the way home from school. Please be aware of the parking restrictions and also mindful of our neighbours who also need to safely enter and exit their streets.

Year 6 bushwalk

Our Year 6 children and their teachers bravely headed off on Wednesday on their annual bushwalk. The purpose of the walk is for students and teachers to develop relationships whilst tackling a challenging 7km hike.

The themes for the walk were for the students to realise that they can persevere and be resilient when they are experiencing an event that they may find uncomfortable. Some children are adept at walking long distances whilst others find it more difficult. It was lovely to hear about children getting around each other and supporting their peers on the challenging walk.
