Welcome to the end of Semester 1, we have had a jam-packed semester and as I write the work does not cease! Reports will be distributed and provide insight into your child’s learning and provide recommendations to improvement.

With HSC Trials currently taking place it is important to understand that high levels of achievement are not simply for a mark out of 100 or an A grade; high achievement is a reflection of how we respect ourselves and contribute to community. This doesn’t always mean a perfect score, it is important to remember that high achievement isn’t the outcome, it’s the effort one puts in to every day actions; a mindset that drives us to continuously improve.

Reading, writing, and appreciating the world around us are key skills that will see your child succeed over the next two weeks.

Some highlights from other year groups:

Year 7 have created trading cards based on Australian heroes.

Year 9 have finished their study of the hero’s journey and appreciated how texts are used to teach us about how we too can be heroes. Students loved studying ‘The Lion King’ as a poignant example.

As the school holidays approach, remember to keep reading!

From all of us in English,

Until next time!
