During National Reconciliation Week 2025, Camden High School hosted bush tucker workshops that provided students with a unique opportunity to develop their leadership skills and cultural understanding. Under the guidance of Greg Smith—a proud Kamilaroi man and founder of Yama 2 You Bush Tucker Nursery—students led both practical kitchen sessions and theory-based workshops with our primary school visitors from Camden South, Camden, Cawdor, Douglass Park and The Oaks Public Schools, fostering collaboration and a deeper understanding of bush tucker knowledges.
This initiative was a resounding success and served as a meaningful way to celebrate this year's theme, "Bridging Now to Next," by connecting communities and honoring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
NAIDOC Week is a time to recognise and celebrate the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year’s theme, ‘The next Generation: Strength, Vision and Legacy’ invites us all to reflect, learn and walk together toward a shared future.
While NAIDOc Week falls within the school holidays, Camden High School will be celebrating upon our return from the break, with a range of engaging activities for students, including art workshops, a fun guessing competition and hands-on didgeridoo-making and weaving workshops.
See the links below for events happening in the community during the break as we honour and celebrate First Nations voices, culture, and creativity.
