From the Principal

At Camden High School, we pride ourselves on doing to best to ensure that every student is known, valued and cared for.
I would like to thank our parents, carers and families who attended the parent-teacher interviews earlier this term. Your engagement and commitment to your child’s education are invaluable, and it was wonderful to see so many of you take the time to meet with our dedicated staff.
These interviews provide a crucial opportunity for us to discuss your child’s progress, celebrate their achievements, and outline goals for the remainder of the year. Your insights and feedback are essential in helping us create a supportive and effective learning environment and we appreciate your partnership as we work together to ensure the best outcomes for our students.
Congratulations to all of the students who entered the recent Creative Writing Competition, designed as part of our High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) extra-curricular activities. This was an opportunity to express creativity and showcase writing talent, and we certainly have some very talented writers !!!!
Creativity and passion for writing truly shone through, and we are proud of every student who entered for sharing their unique voices and stories. Our winners were announced and celebrated at the week 9 assembly.
A special thank you to our staff judges for their time and effort in reviewing each piece. Our staff regularly go above and beyond for our students, and this is another example of our teachers supporting the extra-curricular opportunities that are available for our students.
As we publish this newsletter, we want to acknowledge that our Year 12 students have officially commenced their Trial HSC examinations. This important phase marks a significant step in their journey towards the Higher School Certificate (HSC).
Trial exams are an essential part of preparing for the HSC, providing students with the opportunity to experience what the actual exams will be like. They practice their time management skills under exam conditions, which is crucial for success. These assessments also help students identify their strengths and weaknesses in various subjects, allowing them to focus on areas that need improvement. The feedback received from these trial exams will be invaluable, guiding students as they refine their study strategies and prepare for the final HSC examinations.
At Camden High School, our uniform is more than just clothing; it represents our identity and pride within the community. It has been fantastic to see so many students demonstrating their commitment to our school by wearing the full school uniform every day, including the required black leather shoes.
With the cooler winter weather well and truly upon us, we want to remind all families to be proactive in purchasing jumpers and track pants to ensure that students can uphold our high standards of uniform from the start of Term 3. Camden High School uniform items are available from Yeronga Uniforms, and acceptable alternatives are plain navy blue sloppy joes or track pants.
In addition to our uniform standards, we must also remember the importance of our behaviour as members of both the Camden High School and the wider Camden communities. It is essential that we all uphold high standards of behaviour as respectful and safe learners at all times. This commitment extends beyond the school grounds, including the time spent travelling to and from school each day and particularly on our early finish days when many students may engage in activities within the local community. As learners who are respectful and safe, we all have a part to play in support of maintaining these important standards.
The spirit of camaraderie and competition has been strongly demonstrated through our participation in the annual Camden-Cowra Exchange. This cherished tradition holds generational importance for both the Camden and Cowra school communities, and for our students, it is a privilege to be chosen to represent Camden High School.
The exchange is always a fantastic experience, filled with enthusiasm and support from both school communities, and this strong commitment has ensured that the exchange remains vibrant and relevant for our students and the wider communities for years to come.
Both Camden High School and Cowra High School should be congratulated on their fierce competition and rivalry, as well as the remarkable displays of skill and sportsmanship across all sports and competitions throughout the exchange. This year was so competitive, that the final result depended on the last games of the exchange. Although Cowra High School won the exchange this year, we can hold our heads high, knowing that we played hard and fair, and represented Camden High School with pride.
A special shout-out and heartfelt thank you to the Cowra community who hosted us with such warm hospitality, particularly the billeting families. Their generosity is a vital part of the exchange and fosters opportunities for lifelong friendships between students.
We must also take a moment to acknowledge the incredible efforts of the staff from both schools. The time, energy, and commitment that is put into making this exchange a success is truly appreciated. Congratulations to all staff and students involved in the exchange, and we look forward to regaining the Robert Montgomery Shield in 2026.
