Senior Boys & Girls Netball

On Monday, 23 June, Kingsway Christian College hosted two thrilling netball fixtures featuring our Senior Boys and Senior Girls teams. The atmosphere was electric as spectators were treated to an afternoon of intense competition, determination, and school spirit.

The Senior Boys kicked off the action with Game 1 of their playoff series, battling it out for a spot in the semi-finals. Facing a strong Kingsway Christian College side, the match was fiercely contested from start to finish. Despite a valiant team effort and a nail-biting finish, the Canons were narrowly edged out, falling 24–26. The boys displayed commendable resilience and sportsmanship, leaving a strong impression on all who attended. On Monday, 30 June, the boys returned to the court at St Norbert College, this time taking on La Salle College. The match ended 21–29 in La Salle’s favour, but not without flashes of brilliance from our team. The boys demonstrated growth in both attack and defence, showing adaptability and persistence against quality opposition. Their refusal to give up and continued composure were a testament to their character. Well done to the entire squad for a spirited campaign.

Following the boys' game on 23 June, the Senior Girls took to the court in a high-stakes qualifying match and they delivered a stellar performance. With sharp passing, excellent communication, and fierce defence, the girls controlled the match from start to finish, claiming an emphatic 59–23 victory. This dominant display sees them advance to the Round of 16, where they will face Living Waters Lutheran College on Tuesday, 22 July at 2:30pm.

Congratulations to both teams for their dedication, skill, and the way they proudly represented the College. Let’s continue to show our support as the girls push forward in the next stage of the competition!

Specialised Football Program Term 2 Wrap-Up

Term 2 was a massive one for the Specialised Football Program, featuring an impressive 21 after-school games and multiple carnivals across various year levels. Throughout a demanding and competitive calendar, our students consistently demonstrated commitment, skill, and outstanding sportsmanship.

There were many positive results, with players continuing to grow both individually and as teams. We also faced some challenging outcomes—each providing valuable lessons about the importance of consistency, preparation, and accountability, both on and off the field.

We’re gearing up for knockout rounds in the following School Sport WA competitions:

  • Junior Boys

  • Intermediate Boys

  • Junior Girls

  • Senior Girls

Our ACC Senior Boys and Senior Girls will also begin their knockout campaigns in the ACC Championships. With the ACC moving to a divisional format in 2026, strong results this year are crucial in positioning our teams for a possible spot in Division 1.

We look forward to building on the momentum of Term 2 and continuing to raise the standard across all teams. A huge thank you to all players, coaches, and support staff for your dedication and professionalism this term.

Specialised Football Program Trials

Late in Term 2, we conducted trials for both current students and incoming Year 7s. Congratulations to all those who have been accepted into the program for the remainder of 2025, as well as those joining us in Year 7, 2026.

We’re proud to announce that the Football Program is set to grow to over 100 students in 2026—a clear sign of its continued development and success. The increasing talent and interest within the College reflect the quality of the program, the hard work of our players, and the strong support from families and staff.

Finally, thank you to all parents and guardians for your ongoing support and commitment in ensuring students attend their scheduled training sessions. Your involvement is vital and deeply appreciated.

Senior Basketball Teams Wrap Up Strong SSWA Campaigns

Since our last newsletter, both our Senior Boys and Senior Girls basketball teams have wrapped up exceptional seasons in the SSWA competition, finishing second on the South of the River ladder in their respective divisions.

Our Senior Boys faced Kiara College, the top-ranked team from the North of the River, in a tough crossover matchup. Despite being without several key players, the boys delivered a spirited and competitive performance. With Coach Noah stepping in to lead the side, the team showed great resilience against a highly skilled Kiara outfit. Although they ultimately went down 74–56, their effort and determination were clear throughout. Congratulations to the Senior Boys on a commendable season and a strong SSWA campaign.

Meanwhile, our Senior Girls advanced to the SSWA Grand Final after a nail-biting semi-final victory over Kingsway Christian College, who finished first on the North of the River ladder. Holding their nerve in the final moments, the Canons clinched a 3-point win to earn their place in the big dance against Willetton SHS.

In the Grand Final, the girls came out firing, trailing narrowly at the end of the first quarter, 18–15. From that point on, Willetton’s depth and talent proved hard to contain, but our girls fought courageously until the final buzzer. The game closed with senior students Ella Anton, Theory Snooks-Holding, Tanaya Elliot, Blaise Stancil, and Reece Anticevic on the court, playing their final minutes as St Norbert College Canons. It was a fitting farewell for a group that has contributed so much to the program over the years. We couldn’t be prouder of their achievements, leadership, and the way they’ve represented the College.

Congratulations to both teams for an outstanding SSWA season, marked by resilience, teamwork, and a deep sense of pride.

Finally, we extend our warmest wishes to Reece Anticevic, who now embarks on an exciting new chapter at the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra. Your selection is a testament to your dedication and work ethic—we can’t wait to see what the future holds!

Congratulations to our Year 10 Girls team, who claimed 1st place overall in the ACC SASJ competition after a thrilling 3-set victory (2–1) over Emmanuel Catholic College in the finals. The girls showed great determination and teamwork to secure the top spot.

Our Year 10 Boys team also put up a strong fight in their finals match against Corpus Christi, taking the game to three sets. Despite a close 2–1 loss, the boys finished 4th overall in the ACC SASJ competition — a fantastic achievement. Well done to both teams for their effort, sportsmanship and high display of skills.
