Inter-House Cross Country Carnival
On the 29 April, St Norbert College participated in the Inter-House Cross Country Carnival. Overall, the day was a great success, and the event ran smoothly. A special shout-out to the Physical Education Department and the Year 11 and 12 volunteers for all their hard work. The new cross country course led to some interesting shake-ups in the overall House rankings. Here are the results:
1st - Xanten (978)
2nd - Premontre (924)
3rd - Magdeburg (845)
4th - Kilnacrott (842)
5th - Tongerlo (802)
Congratulations to Xanten, and well done to everyone who participated!

ACC Cross Country Carnival
Our top runners from the Inter-House Cross Country Carnival travelled to Perry Lakes Reserve on Thursday 28 May to compete in the ACC Cross Country Carnival.
Celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, the event brought together Catholic and Independent secondary schools from across the Perth metropolitan area.
Throughout the day, students competed in their age and gender divisions, tackling a challenging 4km course around Perry Lakes Reserve to earn points for their school.
Although we did not come away with a trophy in the award categories, we are incredibly proud of the way our students represented the College. They competed with great spirit, determination, and resilience, while also encouraging and supporting one another throughout the more challenging sections of the course.
We would particularly like to acknowledge the following students who achieved outstanding results in their divisions:
- Arian H – 17th (Under 16 Boys)
- Xavier S – 12th (Under 15 Boys)
- Rory M – 47th (Under 15 Boys)
- Archer B – 25th (Under 14 Boys)
- Gabriella J – 22nd (Under 13 Girls)
- Alex T – 30th (Under 13 Boys)
Well done to everyone who participated!
Junior Boys AFL
The Junior Boys AFL team kicked off their Eagles Cup campaign in outstanding fashion with a strong opening round performance against All Saints College. From the first bounce, ruckman Marcus D set the tone, giving our midfield brigade — Roman D, Harley Q and Archer B — first use through clean, advantaged hit outs. This dominance around the contest allowed the boys to surge forward repeatedly and generate quality entries inside 50.
Capitalising on this supply was Joshua T, who delivered a standout performance up forward, finishing with an impressive six goals from the team’s eight majors for the day. Down back, Captain of the Game, Archer D, was a defensive pillar, cutting off multiple forward thrusts and proving almost impossible for All Saints to bypass with his intercept marking and composure under pressure. The boys maintained control across the two halves and secured a convincing 53–15 victory, giving the team a strong platform and plenty of confidence heading into Round 2 and Round 3.
Round 2 saw our first home game of the tournament against Willetton Senior High School. Coming off an opening round win, the boys carried plenty of confidence and intensity into the match. Ollie M got things underway early with the opening goal, before Jojie A produced a brilliant individual effort — spinning out of a tackle, fending off an opponent and snapping truly to ignite the team.
Captain of the Game, Roman D, then added a huge goal on the run to further lift the energy around the ground. The boys played an exciting brand of football all day, moving the ball well and creating plenty of opportunities through strong teamwork and pressure. It was a complete team performance and resulted in a convincing 44–15 victory, taking the boys to 2–0 and placing them on top of the ladder.
Round 3 saw the boys face Belmont City College in what was expected to be one of the toughest matches of the tournament. The first half certainly lived up to expectations, with both teams bringing strong pressure and physicality around the contest. Belmont made the most of the breeze early and opened up a lead, with SNC trailing 3.3 to 1.0 before a late fightback saw the boys close the gap to just three points at half time, 3.3 to 3.0.
With the wind in our favour after the break, the boys came out firing and quickly took control of the contest with two early goals. From there, the team’s ball movement, pressure and work rate around the ground lifted to another level. Ollie M and Josh T both kicked important goals as the boys pulled away in the second half to record an outstanding 10.1 (61) to 3.6 (24) victory.
It was another fantastic team performance and an excellent display of composure and teamwork under pressure.

SSWA Intermediate Boys
The SSWA Intermediate Boys season has begun, with the team drawn against benchmark school John Curtin for our opening fixture. After conceding early to go down 1–0, the boys responded strongly, playing some excellent football to take a 2–1 lead into half time through long range strikes from Levi and Arian. As the game went on, we lost a little composure and eventually conceded a late penalty, finishing with a 2–2 draw.
Our second fixture was against another strong side in South Coast. The boys were dominant throughout the match and made their opportunities count in the second half, eventually running away with a strong 4–1 victory. Levi and Jack both found the scoresheet, while Arian scored twice in an impressive team performance.
SSWA Senior Boys
Our Senior Boys played their final SSWA group stage game against reigning champions South Coast. We started the game poorly and went into the half time break trailing 3–0. After a stern discussion at the break, the boys responded much better in the second half, competing strongly and creating a few good opportunities that unfortunately were not converted. We conceded two late goals to finish the game which is disappointing.
This competition has provided a valuable opportunity for the boys to test themselves against some of the strongest football schools in the state as we prepare for the ACC Championships South Division 1 competition beginning in Term 3.
SSWA Senior Girls
Similar to the boys, our Senior Girls came up against a very strong South Coast side. We showed the opposition too much respect early and found ourselves down 5–1 at half time, with Zahra scoring our opening goal.
The girls were much more competitive throughout the second half and scored early through excellent pressure in midfield, with Zahra grabbing her second goal of the game. As the game wore on, fatigue began to set in, and South Coast added a few late goals.
The girls still have three more fixtures remaining as preparation for the ACC Championships South Division 1 competition, where we will continue to focus on building consistency and competing strongly for longer periods throughout matches.
