A Magical Celebration
Reading lies at the heart of learning, opening doors to imagination, creativity and a lifelong love of discovery. This term, many of our classes have enjoyed exploring the timeless classic The Magic Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton, immersing themselves in its enchanting characters and adventures.
To further enrich this experience, students in Years 3 to 6 attended a special screening of The Magic Faraway Tree. Accompanied by Ms Kylie McCullah, the girls enjoyed a walk to the Regal Theatre. The excursion was made even more special as students shared ice cream and popcorn with friends, creating a wonderful sense of community and celebration.

IPSHA Poetry Competition
On Wednesday 3 June, the IPSHA Poetry Recital Competition was held at Walford. We were delighted to see our students represent Loreto with such confidence and flair. Each performance was a testament to the girls’ hard work, preparation and love of language.
Congratulations to Emma, Vera and Tiana for their outstanding efforts, and Mrs Megan Lumsden, our Gifted and Talented teacher, for supporting the girls.

Mid-Year Reception Transition
Our Mid-Year Reception students have made a wonderful start to their transition at Loreto. The program is designed to ensure each child feels welcomed, supported and connected as they begin their school journey.
Families recently joined us for a special welcome prayer service and morning tea, and each student was delighted to receive a Loreto Teddy bear. Through the Reception Transition Program, we strive to nurture a strong sense of belonging for both students and their families. We also warmly welcome Mrs Alisha Martin to our Junior School teaching team as our Mid-Year Reception Teacher.

Last week, the Year 2 cohort visited the South Australian Museum for a cultural tour exploring Australian Aboriginal histories and cultures. The tour was led by Iteka from Kumarnintha, who shared her personal connection to the museum, with several of her family’s artefacts donated to the collection and members of her family represented in displays throughout the museum.
We were lucky to avoid the rain and enjoy a wonderful morning exploring the exhibits. During the tour, students had the opportunity to hold and examine woven baskets, a coolamon, and clapping sticks. They also listened to the creation story of Udlu and Maja, learning important lessons about kindness, honesty, sharing and recognising the size of a problem.
Students were fascinated by the Aboriginal Australian map and learnt why different areas vary in size, based on the availability of natural resources across the country. It was a rich and engaging experience that deepened the students’ understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal history and cultures.

Congratulations to our Year 5/6 team for their efforts in the recent South Australian da Vinci Decathlon. The competition brought together students from across the state to celebrate creativity, problem-solving and teamwork. Inspired by the ideas of Leonardo da Vinci, the competition challenged students in areas including engineering, mathematics, science, code breaking, general knowledge of the Renaissance and Leonardo da Vinci's inventions, art, poetry, and creative theatre. The event provided the students with an exciting opportunity to extend their learning beyond the classroom while connecting with like-minded peers from across South Australia.
Congratulations to our Year 5/6 Team who placed second overall for Art and Poetry.
