Wilsons Prom

Our excited Year 5/6 campers set off bright and early on Monday morning for their camp at Wilsons Prom and arrived home late yesterday, tired but just as excited, with many happy memories and stories to tell.  In addition to the fun of spending this time together as a group, they also enjoyed exploring the beach and the surrounding environment, surfing and taking in some of the many beautiful walks.  A huge thank you to Dave, Steph, Anna, Kim, Duanne, Al, Erik and Ian for their time and effort in providing our students with this fantastic experience.

Moss Piglet Stage Show

On Tuesday, the rest of the school also enjoyed the opportunity to go on an adventure, as they entered the world of Moss Piglet.  This entertaining show provided lots of giggles as the characters went on a scientifc exploration into the mystery of this small but highly resilient creature.

Afterwards, it was time for lunch and a play at the Sumsion Gardens playground, before heading back to school for the end of the day.  A big thank you to Joy for her assistance with driving the mini-bus and to all attending staff for their role in ensuring a great day out!

Intergenerational Gardening

With the older students away, all grade 4 students had the opportunity to participate in this week's Intergenerational Gardening session.  For some, this was their first introduction to our older participants and the garden.   This week, students gathered up materials such as leaves, dirt and some highly- prized worms, to kick off the compost bin. They also topped up the water in the wicking beds, discovered the radish seedlings had germinated and added some additional mulch. Sadly, some gardeners also discovered that something had been nibbling on their seedlings, but have not yet found the culprits! If you're walking past the gardens, please feel free to help by removing any slugs or snails that may be lurking!

Tree Planting

Yesterday, students from Anna and Kathryn's class made their way to Pebble Beach, to help Steve Gardiner and the Alpine Shire team, plant 85 new plants around the swimming hole.

Congratulations to all participating students on their enthusiastic and industrious efforts with planting and mulching the garden.  In years to come, this will become a beautiful feature and a welcome haven for wildlife. While not everyone could participate in planting, all students in Prep-4 have decorated at least one tree-guard, creating a small gallery of artworks that will provide fun and interest, until the plants are big enough to create their own display and the guards have decomposed.   Families are encouraged to visit the site to enjoy this unique 'gallery' of artworks.

Pumpkin Soup

After their hard work in the garden, students in Year 4 set to work, to serve up a delicious pumpkin soup and yoghurt bread lunch.  Many thanks to everyone who supported this initiative, and to Kathryn for donating the pumpkins from her garden.  All funds raised will go towards purchasing consumables for our kitchen garden program.

2026 Fundraising

This term, our school council fundraising committee is planning a ‘High County Winter Experience’ themed raffle.  Our fundraising efforts will go towards upgrading our fleet of student laptops, and you can assist by partnering with a local business to offer a gift voucher in keeping with the Winter Experience theme.

So far our prizes include:

  • An on mountain package with shoulder season accom at Astra
  • A Mount Beauty package
  • A 'local's' package with less ski focus and more food / beverage which could also be used in the off season

LONG WEEKEND and PUPIL FREE DAY
