Semester Two Reports and Parent Teacher Interviews
Hopefully everyone has had a chance to have a read through your child’s report over the weekend. A reminder that if you haven’t yet, they are able to be downloaded off Compass. Last night we held the first of our Parent Teacher interview night, with the second being tomorrow afternoon. These interviews provide a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the wonderful achievements and progress of each child, as well as discuss some learning goals for the future. If you would still like to book in time and you haven’t yet, please speak to your child’s teacher.
Bunjil Award winners and Superstar Readers
Congratulations to last week’s Bunjil Award winners. You have all had an excellent finish to the year. A big congratulations also to Charlie and Gracie for their commitment to home reading. Well done!
Author Visit
Last Friday, we were lucky enough to have author Kerry Castree visit Scotsburn to run a live workshop. Kerry is the author of the book Will and Magical Sunflower. Will and the Magical Sunflower follows a boy named Will who plants a sunflower seed with his Nan. The seed turns out to be magical, leading Will into a secret world beneath the garden where he meets helpful guides and discovers that kindness, courage, and patience create true magic.
After a book reading, Kerry presented some work facts, held a “worm Olympics” and gave each student a “courage worm” as a gift to aid with building courage and emotional support.
This workshop with Kerry was a fantastic compliment to our recent veggie patch upgrade project, building on our campus sustainability focus.
We absolutely loved the session - thanks so much Kerry for visiting us!
Today we held our 2026 Orientation Day at Scotsburn. All students at the Scotsburn Campus spent the day with their 2026 classmates and teachers, participating in a range of transition activities to assist with getting ready and settled for next year. We all have had a great day and this day is always a wonderful way to kick start the 2026 year!

Buninyong Community Playgroup Christmas Wonderland
Friday 12th December
The Buninyong Community Playgroup Christmas Wonderland is this Friday and we can’t wait! As a campus, we will be running two stalls, a bake sale and a 3D printing stall. Over the next day or two, we would love some donations for our bake sale. If you have a cake or some baked goods that you could prepare for our stall, we would love them to come in on Wednesday or Thursday next week.
Any baked donations will need to be on a disposable plate and air tight covered in gladwrap or something similar. They will also need a full ingredients list attached.
Parent Volunteer Signup: Below is a sign up document for volunteers to assist with our stalls on the day. Please if you could spare some time, we need to fill every spot. We will have some students helping as well:
Christmas Wonderland Volunteer sign up
A reminder that on the day, school will run as normal, with regular school hours of 9:00am - 3:30pm. We will provide time for students to head out and explore, with a supervision plan in place.
Students bringing along some money: As there will be items to purchase, it will be a good idea to send a small amount of money with your child. $10 would be a good amount.
The Mount Helen Lions Club will be running a free sausage sizzle as well, which the students can enjoy.
We would love as many families and siblings to attend on the day, to make it a huge event for our campus. We can;t wait to see you all there!
End of Year Scotsburn Christmas Celebration and Picnic
Monday 15th December - 2:00pm to 3:30pm
Next Monday 15th December is our Christmas Concert at Scotsburn. We invite all families, including siblings and extended family members to join us on the oval to celebrate what an amazing year 2025 has been for the Scotsburn Campus. We will enjoy some speeches, awards and presentations for our Graduating Grade 6 students, as well as our much anticipated class performances.
Families are welcome to arrive from 1:50pm, for a 2:00pm start. Please bring along some camping chairs, a picnic rug and a few snacks.
Also a reminder that Santa will be visiting and we will need all of Santa’s helpers to assist us with this! Please see earlier Compass message if you are unsure on this process or please see a staff member if you need help in arranging for this to happen.
Scotsburn Pool Fun Day
Wednesday 17th December
A reminder that our pool day is on Wednesday 17th December, between 11:00am – 1:00pm. We will be heading off to Fed Uni Pool to participate in a variety of pool activities.

CFA Water Fight
Wednesday 17th December
This year our annual CFA fundraiser and water fight day will take place between 2:00pm and 3:00pm on Wednesday 17th December. Please ensure that your child brings along the money they have raised in an envelope or money bag with their name on it when they are being dropped off for the sleepover.
Last Day of School Reminders
Thursday 18th December
This year the last day of school is Thursday 18th December. As we did last year, we will start the morning at the Buninyong Campus for the whole school assembly. Our Grade 6 leaders will be presenting at assembly as well as many other end of year celebrations. As it is a 1.30pm finish, we will spend the entire day at Buninyong, so please remember pick up arrangements will be at Buninyong. We will meet parents and carers in the courtyard at 1.15pm for a final campus farewell. If your child is planning to give any cards or presents at the end of the year to friends, It may be easier to do this by Wednesday 17th December, as this will be our last day at the Scotsburn Campus for 2025.
A reminder that on the last day of term, students are encouraged to dress up in a Christmas related theme!
Grade 6 students (and any other students permanently leaving the school) usually wear their uniform on this day in order to get it signed by their classmates.
Scotsburn Intercampus Travel At times, Scotsburn students will be transported between campuses in order to attend classes, assemblies, special days and events. On most occasions, transport required through the day will be by bus and occasionally private car for smaller groups of students. Parents may be asked to drop off or collect from the Buninyong campus if sessions are at the beginning or ending of a day. We will always let you know of any upcoming travel arrangements via our newsletter, Compass, or via phone for smaller, more specific travel arrangements. If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding intercampus travel, please contact your child’s teacher. |
