It has been a busy and exciting year at Croydon SDS. It's hard to believe this is the final newsletter for the year. Term 4 seems to have gone very quickly. As I have been reading through some of the student end of year reports, it has been a delight to reflect on the progress that our students have made in their learning goals and this is evident around the school as we see students developing their confidence and independence.
Our whole school literacy program, Comprehensive Literacy for All has seen our staff undertake new learning to implement Shared Reading and incorporate the use of PODD and other communication supports to promote student active involvement and engagement in their learning. Around the school in classrooms, we have seen students greatly enjoying using many new books independently and together with staff or peers.
It is very exciting that we have our first group of senior secondary students who are receiving their Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) Statement of Results at the end of this year. This means that they have successfully completed some VPC units of study. This is the first full year of implementation of the VPC program at Croydon SDS and we look forward to seeing many more students achieve this in the years to come. Congratulations to our final year students who have completed VPC units. Students in our final 3 years of school in 2026 will continue to work towards further completion of these units of work.
Student end of year reports will be completed and made available to parents via Compass at the end of this week. If you would like a hard copy of your child's report, please contact the office and we can organise this for you. We hope that you find your child's report informative and valuable

You may already be aware that the federal government has mandated that from 10 December 2025, age-restricted social media platforms will have to take reasonable steps to prevent Australians under the age of 16 from creating or keeping an account.
The restrictions aim to protect young Australians from pressures and risks that users can be exposed to while logged in to social media accounts. These come from design features that encourage them to spend more time on screens, while also serving up content that can harm their health and wellbeing.
As of 21 November 2025, it is eSafety's view that Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Threads, TikTok, Twitch, X, YouTube, Kick and Reddit are age-restricted platforms. This list will continue to be updated prior to 10 December. Find the latest details about which platforms are age-restricted.

It has been a pleasure and privilege working with our students, families and staff during 2025. Thank you for your support and commitment to your children and our school. To our graduating students and their families, I wish you all the very best for the future. Please pop back and let us know how you are going with your post school programs.
Wishing all of our families a happy, safe and relaxing break from school routines and we look forward to seeing you all back in 2026!
