Principal's Message

Ms Louise Reynolds

Congratulations Bassam!

The picture above comes from the awards night last week, where Bassam H was our Granville East PS nomination for the Jason Clare Community Service Award. As Jason said: "It's not about marks and medals. It's all about leadership and kindness".

We are so proud of Bassam, who embodies the notion of kindness, leadership and community service. Congratulations Bassam!

Last week we welcomed our new Student Wellbeing Officer, Fran Kanaan. Fran will work Mondays and Tuesdays at GEPS, and she replaces Miwa.

She is getting to know our students and staff and getting to meet some of our families. We hope you feel like part of the GEPS family soon!

Farewell Miss Elli

Miss Elli has been a Student Learning Support Officer at GEPS for the past 6 years. She has worked with a range of students and across all classes in a part time capacity. She has recently won a merit selection process to be a permanent SLSO at Gardiners Road Public School. This is a wonderful promotion for Elli and we congratulate her on her success. We will be sad to see her go and we will miss her dearly. All the very best Miss Elli.

Pre-school construction starting!

Today, we turned the first sod on our new public preschool. Julia Finn, Member for Granville, came along to celebrate this first step in the build.

Our preschool will be a fabulous opportunity for 4 year olds and will create such a smooth transition for those students into Kindergarten. The construction will take 6-8 months and we are on track to open in 2027.

Kindy Graduation

Last week our pre-Kindies finished their 6-week Kindy Transition program. They each got a certificate and performed a song in the hall. They went on a treasure hunt around the school and received gifts of things to work on over the summer break to prepare for big school. A huge thank you to those students and their families for making the commitment to this amazing program.

Smooth transitions

Moving from Year 6 to Year 7 can be a big deal. We try to prepare our students for high school in many ways - one of which is running a "mock" high school program for 2 days. Students worked in smaller class groups on a high-school timetable for the days. They participated in music, drama, history, geography etc and had 6 periods a day.

We also held a transition morning for Kindy to Year 5. Each grade went up to the next grade rooms, to see what life might be like next year... This was a great way for students to have a little insight into next year, get to know some of the students that they might be working with (in terms of the stage) and see where the classrooms are for the next year. Everything we do to make the next year's move a little less scary and a little less unknown is a great benefit to our students.

Community thank you

Tomorrow we are holding a community lunch to say thank you to all of our families for supporting us this year. 1:15-2pm in the Library. Come along and have a bite to eat as we recognise our community here at GEPS.

Whole school acknowledgement

Monday 15 December is our whole school Presentation Day. This is a time to celebrate achievements across our school as well as within each class. We also present a range of special awards and get to learn who the next school leadership team will be. Please join us from 9am in the hall.
