On Wednesday afternoon we held our Year 6 Graduation Ceremony. This event saw our 20 Graduates enter with their Prep Buddies and be presented to the school community. Each graduate was given a photo booklet and a signature puppy, they then shared with the audience their favourite memory or experience about their time at Lockington Consolidated School. A photo montage was then shown to all present. Following the ceremony there was a graduation cake to share with their family and an opportunity for photos.

Farewell and Thank You

At this time of year we always have to say a sad farewell to some staff, students and families. It is with mixed emotions that we do this because although we are happy for those that are moving on to more exciting and different things, we will miss them and their contributions to Lockington Consolidated School.

Staff- Farewell to our beautiful Kathy Connors who is retiring after 45 years of teaching. She has certainly earned a rest after a stint like that!

Students- Our departing Year Six Students are Summer, Hayden, Chloe, Charlotte, Charlie, Ruby, Hunter, Wezley, Alexis, Logan, Jude, Taiya, Indi, Cooper, Heidi, Mel, Declan, Toby, Ryder and Ethan. It will be strange not seeing your wonderful faces each day

Families- This year we have Estelle & Levi Potier, Dan & Kim Portwine and Monica Brereton & Stephen McIntyre finishing up their time as parents of our school. Thank you for all of your support and contributions over the years you have spent with us.

Staff Announcements

I would warmly like to welcome two more staff members to our team. Both of these teachers are familiar faces to our students, staff and the community but are now officially joining us at the beginning of the year in fixed term positions.

Kate DeKleuver will be working in our Art room for first term, she replaces Kathy Connors who is on long service leave for Term 1 (with a view to retire beyond that). Kate is very excited to be working with each of our students in the visual arts space and she has already established a great working relationship with students and staff across the school, having completed many Casual Replacement Teaching days this year.

Meagan Portwine has been appointed to a six month position as a specialist STEM teacher. Meagan will take each class once per week for learning experiences that focus on Science, Technology and Engineering topics (and closely link to Mathematics as well as other key learning areas such as English, Social Capabilities and Humanities). Like Kate, Meagan has been working across our school as a Casual Replacement Teacher and knows our students and staff very well.

Both Kate and Meagan join Julia  Adams as our newest staff members and I know our staff, students and their families will make them feel welcome and part of our school community.

Seasons Greetings

On a final note, I want to take this opportunity to wish all of the staff, students and their families a wonderful Christmas, New Year and holiday break. It has been a busy and productive year at Lockington Consolidated and everyone has worked together to ensure that our students are always provided the best opportunities to extend their learning, both within and beyond the classroom. Student Wellbeing is always something we consider when planning lessons, activities and special events.

Thank you to everyone for making my first year at Lockington such a welcoming and special one. I look forward to helping lead Lockington Consolidated School again in 2026.
