Welcome 2026 Transition Students
This week, we welcomed our 2026 Year 10 and Year 11 students into the College for their Transition camp. The purpose of the camp is to help new students familiarise themselves with the College, its students, staff, geography, and routines. We understand that shifting to a new school is a big change, and adding boarding to the mix can make the transition even more challenging. Reports from Transition students and their families have been positive, and we know from previous years that the camp is an effective way to ease anxiety about the start of next year. My thanks go to our Student Counsellors who assisted with the camp, and to all staff for making it happen.
Year 10 Survey
The families of Year 10 students have received a survey link via email to share their opinions on the College. Your feedback is very useful in helping us identify where we are doing well and where we can improve. As of Wednesday afternoon, I have received 21 responses out of a possible 51 families. Our Year 10 students will be surveyed next week.
2026 Staffing
We are fast approaching the end of the year, but as usual, there is much to do. Along with the usual timetabling for next year, end-of-year maintenance, reporting on the current year, and planning for the next year, we are also completing selection panels for new staff. Next year, we will welcome a new English teacher, three new Residential Supervisors, and a new Chef. The South West Region Director of Education is conducting a selection process to appoint a new Principal, following my retirement at the end of the year. As soon as this appointment is confirmed, we will let our College community know.
Retic at Horticulture
Our Horticulture section is currently undergoing an overhaul of the reticulation system. The old system was outdated, very manual, and struggled to supply enough water at once. The new system will include a ring main, a new controller system, and soil moisture probes. We are grateful to the Combined Agricultural Advisory Committee for providing the funds for this project.
Have a great weekend
