Year 4 Bike Ed

Our Year 4 students are to be congratulated for their effort and perseverance as they develop their bike riding skills throughout this year’s Bike Ed program. Mount View students are fortunate to have the opportunity to participate in this important PE program. I am proud of the way they challenge themselves and encourage each other to do their best. I am grateful to our teachers and support staff for all they do to ensure that our students have this experience- it is a mammoth task and I thank everyone who has contributed to the success of this year’s Bike Ed program. This includes our parent helpers and community volunteers who take time out of their busy schedules to support our students and staff.

Last week, MVPS participated in the state finals on the 18th of November. The people who are in our chess team are Tinuka (captain),Sennon,Dev,Hazech and Alex. We unfortunately didn’t make nationals but we placed 12th in the whole of Victoria. It was really enjoyable and engaging to play in a finals tournament and everything tried their best. Even though we placed 12th, the team were proud just to be part of the tournament. Maybe next year, the chess team will have a chance and carry on our legacy.

Social Media Age Restrictions – What Families Need to Know

As you may be aware, the Australian Government has introduced new measures to reduce online harm experienced by young people. Social media age restrictions will come into effect on 10 December 2025, limiting access for Australians under the age of sixteen.

From this date, children under 16 will no longer be able to hold accounts on a range of commonly used social media platforms. They will still be able to use messaging services, online games, and a range of apps that support health, learning and wellbeing.

Research shows that more than seven in ten young Australians have been exposed to content online that is not appropriate for their age. As part of the new laws, any existing social media accounts held by children under 16 should be deactivated. The changes apply to major platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, X (formerly Twitter), Facebook and YouTube.

As a school, we are committed to supporting safe and positive experiences for all students. We encourage families to take this opportunity to check in with their children about their online activity, discuss responsible and age-appropriate technology use, and review privacy and safety settings together. Establishing clear expectations at home helps children navigate the digital world confidently and safely. This is a great resource to support you Parents | eSafety Commissioner
