Healthy Lunchboxes: Fuel for Focus & Wellbeing

A healthy lunch helps children stay alert, happy and ready to learn all day.Good food gives the brain and body the energy they need. When children eat well, they can concentrate better, manage their emotions, and have more energy for learning and play.

🥪 What to Put in a Healthy Lunchbox

Try to include something from each group:

Grains (for energy)Wholemeal bread or wraps, rice, pasta, crackers
Protein (for strong muscles and brains)Chicken, tuna, eggs, beans, lentils, hummus, cheese, yoghurt
Fruits and Vegetables (for vitamins)Carrot sticks, cucumber, tomatoes, apple, pear, berries, orange
Dairy or AlternativesCheese, milk, yoghurt, soy milk or other fortified plant milk

These foods give children steady energy and help their brains work well through the day.

🚫 Limit Sugary Snacks and Drinks

Snacks and drinks with a lot of sugar (like lollies, chips, juice or soft drink) can make children feel tired or cranky later. 💧 Water is the best drink for school. Encourage children to bring a water bottle and refill it during the day.

🌟 Simple Tips for Parents

  • Pack a mix of foods – some grains, protein, fruit or veggies.
  • Get ready the night before to make mornings easier.
  • Change foods each week so children don’t get bored.
