Physical Education News

Dear Parents and Families,
Welcome back to another action-packed PE Newsletter! We have seen so much progress throughout this term, and the students are smashing it!
Congratulations to our boys' Futsal teams who went and competed at the West Victorian Futsal championships! The U11/12 boys came away with the gold after a thrilling penalty shootout, with Albi making some cracking saves and Birul sealing the deal with the final goal! Well done to the whole team, you played an amazing day!! The U10 Boys also had a great day out, making the final and were all set to go to penalty shootouts in the grand fina,l but unfortunately ran out of time. Well done to both teams! You boys smashed us and made Tarneit Rise very proud.
Preps, Grade One and Grade Two
The Preps, Ones are currently working on their clicking skills. They have focused on making sure they take a big stride, landing their foot next to the ball, kicking the ball with the back of their foot, and using a backswing to kick the ball with power. They have now taken this skill into games of block soccer, where they have to focus on protecting a block but also making sure that they are kicking accurately to knock other players' blocks over.
The Twos are currently practicing their two-handed strike with a cricket bat. The twos have focused on making sure that they use a skateboard stance when hitting and are also making sure that they follow through to make a double V.
Grade 3s to 6s
Grades 3 and 4 have continued their striking and fielding units by playing games of teeball and learning the skills that come with it. The grade 4s are taking their skills from teeball into Danish longball, where they need to focus on relay fielding and finding gaps when striking to gain the most points from a run. The grade 3s are continuing their work with teeball and are continuing to focus on effective fielding.
The Grades 5s have finished their cricket unit for the term and our now taking their skills that they have learnt into softball. We have started with a focus on pitching to prepare students for a game. Students are making sure that they get the ball and throw quickly, identifying the most dangerous player.
The Grade 6s have been practicing their softball skills. They have had an extra focus on fielding with the gloves to be able to be efficient when fielding and move the ball quickly. They will soon start their final unit on creating a game.
Team of the Week
Team of the week is a team of 11 students who have shown excellence in their PE classes. They always try their best and do their best to help their classmates.
Superstars of the Week
The superstars of the week goes to the U10s boys' futsal team, who competed on Monday in the West Victorian Futsal tournament. The boys were playing off in the final and went to penalties. Unfortunately, time had run out for our teams, and we left on a tie. Well done boys, stellar effort!!
