Performing Arts News

Hi Tarneit Rise families,

It has been another fun and creative fortnight in Performing Arts as we race towards the end of the year.

Prep students have completed their ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’ assessment and will be finishing the term and their first year of Performing Arts learning by creating their own performances. This week, Prep performing artists are creating their own drama plays that include a plot, characters, and a setting. We are loving the creative ideas they are sharing!

Now that they have finished their assessment, Grade 1 and 2 students have begun an engaging and creative unit on building and using their own puppets. Students in grade 1 are making shadow puppets, and students in grade 2 are creating rod puppets. The process of brainstorming, planning, designing, building, and using these puppets lets the students think creatively about the kind of character they would like to use.

Grade 3 and 4 students have been busy completing assessments in their improvised and scripted acting units. They have been exploring the dramatic elements of space, setting, conflict, and contrast this term, and their assessment performances have been a great showcase of their developing skills in improvisation, performance devising, and acting.

Grade 5 and 6 students are finalising their filmmaking units this fortnight. Our most senior performing artists have been busy filming, setting up shots, choosing props and costumes, and using their scripts and storyboards. Next up, they will be editing their movies before sharing them with each other at the end of the term. We can’t wait to see the finished product!
