Grade 2 Community News

The Grade 2’s have been up to a lot in term 4! Let's take a dive into what we have been up to!
A Deep Dive at Sea Life Aquarium!
What an amazing start to Term 4! Our Grade 2 adventurers had an absolute blast on our excursion to the Sea Life Aquarium! We dove right into learning all about different sea life habitats and saw so many incredible creatures. The kids were full of awe and excitement!
And guess what? We saw a giant Crocodile that weighed nearly 1,000 kilograms! That's heavier than a small car! It was definitely a highlight of the tour. We loved learning and seeing new things up close.
Rounding Up the Year: Revision Time!
Hard to believe the end of the year is already in sight! As we head into the final weeks, we are dedicating lots of time to revision in both English and Math. We're polishing our skills and making sure everything we've learned this year is super strong!
Math Masters in the Making!
Our mathematicians have been working hard!
We are practicing our DQRT (Daily Quick Review Tasks) to become super speedy with our facts.
We have tackled some wonderfully tricky concepts like telling Time (telling time to the minute isn't easy!) and understanding Volume and Capacity (how much stuff fits!).
We are spending time revising regrouping (borrowing and carrying in addition and subtraction) and having fun with Probability (what are the chances?).
English Experts!
In English, we are focusing on getting our spelling rules absolutely perfect. We've been working on these all year, and all this practice is helping us become brilliant spellers!
We are also spending lots of time building our writing skills. We want to write excellent, detailed pieces! We're revising the key writing features of:
Narrative (storytelling)
Informative (teaching others)
Persuasive (convincing someone)
Healthy, Safe, and Smart!
Our Health lessons have covered some very important, life-saving topics! We've been learning all about:
- Being Sun Smart (Slip, slap, slop, sleek and slide!)
- Water Safety (Be safe near pools and the ocean!)
Road Safety (Stop, Look, Listen, and Think before crossing!)
The students are really enjoying the fun, practical side of Health by working in groups to create advertisements and role-playing what they've learned.
We look forward to enjoying these last few weeks of fun and learning with your child! Thank you for your continued support.
