Welcome Back to the Library!
Welcome back to another exciting term in the Library! We have started the term strongly, with an amazing collection of new series and books arriving on our shelves. Students have already been eagerly exploring the new additions, and we look forward to seeing many more wonderful reading discoveries throughout the term.
As the weather begins to cool, we are continuing to work hard to create a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all students. The Library remains a space where everyone can relax, connect, and enjoy a variety of activities during lunchtime. Recently, students participated in a fun and creative marble run challenge, which brought plenty of teamwork, problem-solving, and excitement to the Library space.
We are also continuing our popular Social Book Club, alongside our regular lunchtime favourites including board games, colouring activities, and quiet corners for students looking for a calm place to read or recharge.
This term, students may also notice some exciting new displays around the Library. To coincide with the Year 8 Shakespeare unit in English, we have created displays featuring Shakespearean themes, stories, and inspired texts to help bring the unit to life and encourage students to explore beyond the classroom. We have also made it easier than ever to find your favourite series — simply follow the displays around the Library shelves to discover new titles and reconnect with much-loved characters and adventures.
Ms Holmes has been working closely with her Reading Renaissance classes on developing students’ understanding of ethics and social awareness. Students have been learning to examine the rights and responsibilities of information creators, as well as considering the perspectives of people affected by information creation. Through exploring differing viewpoints, students are expanding their understanding of important issues and engaging with texts they may not have previously considered. This learning has encouraged students to broaden their reading worlds and explore a wider range of ideas, voices, and experiences.
We look forward to another fantastic term of reading, learning, creativity, and connection in the Library!
