Advancing Science: Year 9 Students Embrace Senior Chemistry
Our Year 9 Accelerated Science students have been engaging in senior-level Chemistry, demonstrating both enthusiasm and impressive analytical skills.
This extension into higher-level content not only challenges students academically but also fosters confidence, independence, and a deeper appreciation for scientific inquiry.
Strengthening English Foundations: New After-School Support Initiative
As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting student learning and building strong foundations in English, we are pleased to introduce a new after-school English support initiative for students in Years 7–10.
Beginning this term, members of the English faculty will be available each Tuesday from 3:15pm to 4:00pm in RC3 to provide targeted support for students. This will operate on a rotating basis, with different English teachers facilitating the session each week to ensure a collaborative, whole-faculty approach and to allow students access to a range of expertise and teaching styles.
These sessions are designed to be flexible and responsive to student needs. Students are encouraged to attend if they:
- require assistance with homework or assessment tasks
- would benefit from additional support in developing key English skills such as reading comprehension, writing, and analysis
would like to extend themselves or seek clarification on classwork
This initiative complements the support already offered by the Mathematics faculty and reflects our shared commitment across departments to providing structured academic assistance beyond the classroom.
No booking is required, and students may attend as needed. We strongly encourage students to take advantage of this opportunity to consolidate their learning, build confidence, and seek support in a focused and supportive environment.
If you have any questions regarding this initiative, please do not hesitate to contact the English faculty.
MAG Students Represent at Sydney Royal Easter Show
We are proud to share that Alanna McKee and Nate Holgate recently represented MAG at the Sydney Royal Easter Show during the school holidays. Both students earned this opportunity after successfully qualifying in Youth Judging at the Deniliquin Show.
Competing at such a prestigious event is a significant accomplishment and reflects their dedication, skill, and commitment to their area of interest. Opportunities like this allow students to further develop their knowledge while showcasing their abilities on a broader stage.
We congratulate Alanna and Nate on their outstanding achievement and for representing our school with pride.
Students Commemorate ANZAC Day
Several of our students participated in ANZAC Day services across a number of local RSL sub-branches last Saturday.
We are especially proud of our secondary students who represented the school by laying wreaths at services in Mathoura and Deniliquin. Their respectful participation was a meaningful way to honour and remember those who have served.
Agriculture in Action: Year 11 Farm Visit
Year 11 Agriculture students visited “Amaroo” farm and feedlot this week as part of their Case Study Assessment Task. Warren and Kelly Barnett generously gave up their time to provide students with a highly informative tour of their property. We viewed the air seeder and centre pivot irrigator in action, as well as the 8000-head feedlot. Students left the property with a much greater appreciation of cropping, nutrition, machinery, human resources, animal welfare, health and safety, and much more.
Agriculture and Primary Industries: Hands-On Learning
This term, students of Agriculture and Primary Industries have been feeding calves milk at school. Year 10 Agriculture students are studying the growth of calves for their “Cows Creates Careers” assessment task. HSC Primary Industries students have vaccinated and backlined the calves, while Year 12 Agriculture students ear-tagged the calves. Students are learning about nutrition, animal welfare, and biosecurity.
Photographs in this week’s newsletter are of Year 9 Agriculture students feeding the calves and practising their temporary fencing skills.
Staff Spotlight: Tilly Keenan Paints for a Purpose
