Year 4 First Eucharist Preparation Journey

On Thursday evening, our Year 4 students and their families gathered in the School Hall for the First Eucharist Family Information Night, an important and sacred step in their faith journey towards receiving the Sacrament of First Eucharist.

Led by Father Gallacher, the seminarians Pat and Anthony, Mr Prowse, Mr Butler, Ms Carmen and myself, the evening was grounded in prayer, reflection and faith formation as families came together to deepen their understanding of the Eucharist and the real presence of Christ. Through discussion, shared activities and moments of reflection, students and families explored the significance of the Eucharist within the Catholic tradition and reflected on Jesus’ invitation to gather as one community of faith around His table.

It was wonderful to witness the reverence, enthusiasm and thoughtful participation of our Year 4 students as they continue preparing their hearts to receive Jesus in the Eucharist for the very first time. Families engaged meaningfully in conversations about faith, recognising the Eucharist as a source of spiritual nourishment, unity and grace that strengthens our relationship with God and one another.

As we journey alongside our students during this special time of preparation, we are reminded of Jesus’ words in the Gospel of John:

“I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” – John 6:35

This weekend, our Year 4 candidates will participate in their Commitment Mass at St Joseph’s Parish as they continue preparing to receive the Sacrament of First Eucharist. As a faith-filled school and parish community, we ask that you keep these students and their families in your prayers. May the Holy Spirit continue to guide them as they grow in faith, wisdom and love, drawing ever closer to Christ through the gift of the Eucharist.
