Learning Support Officer Appreciation Week

Friday 16th May marked Education Support Staff Day, providing an opportunity to recognise and thank our incredible Learning Support Officers for the invaluable contribution they make to the life of St Joseph’s every day.

Our LSOs are an integral part of our school community. Their care, patience, flexibility and unwavering support help ensure that all students feel supported and capable of success. Whether working alongside students in the classroom, supporting teachers behind the scenes, or simply being a calm and caring presence throughout the day, the impact they have an immense impact across our school is immense.

The tireless work our LSOs do, often quietly and behind the scenes, plays a significant role in supporting both the learning and wellbeing of our students. Their dedication and compassion do not go unnoticed and we are incredibly grateful for everything they bring to our community.

Thank you to Briely, Rachel, Hudson, Skye, Mia, Milly, Katie and Annie for the difference you make every day.

We are thrilled to have Sinead, Caoimhe and Tanya join our school community and know they will be warmly welcomed by our students, staff and families.

1C and 3DB Assembly

Last week, 1C students proudly presented their assembly on the planets in our solar system. Congratulations to all of the students for their confident speaking and the fantastic way they shared the learning that has been taking place in their classroom. It was clear how much effort had gone into preparing for the assembly, and students should be very proud of themselves. One interesting fact I learnt was that Venus is covered in thick clouds that trap heat like a giant blanket. The fun and catchy song at the end was a wonderful way to finish the assembly and had everyone smiling.

Thank you to Ms Correy for always leading her class through engaging and meaningful learning experiences and for the care and enthusiasm she brings to her teaching.

Today, 3DB led us in a beautiful liturgy centred on Pentecost, the special time when the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples, often symbolised by flames of fire. Students should be incredibly proud of their clear and expressive reading of Scripture, as well as their wonderful performance of the song Hearts on Fire.

Child Safe Standard 3

This week, as part of our ongoing commitment to child safety and wellbeing, staff engaged in professional dialogue and discussion focused on Child Safe Standard 3: Children and young people are empowered about their rights, participate in decisions affecting them and are taken seriously. Through the use of MACS Care resources, staff explored how we can continue to create environments where students feel safe and valued within our school community.

Discussions focused on the importance of ensuring students understand their rights, feel confident to seek support and are provided with opportunities to share their voice in meaningful ways. Staff also reflected on how positive relationships and responsive classroom practices help students feel connected and supported at school.
