During this term, students will participate in the Check-in assessment.
The Check-in assessment is a NSW Department of Education online literacy and numeracy assessment available to support schools to assess and monitor student learning.
The assessment can supplement existing school practices to identify how students are performing in literacy and numeracy and to help teachers tailor their teaching more specifically to student needs. Students with disability may receive the same level of support during the assessment they would normally receive in the classroom.
All students complete a reading assessment and a numeracy assessment. Year 6 students will also complete a writing assessment.
Optional: Students may bring wired headphones to use during the assessment if they wish.
The planned assessment schedule for Years 3 to 6 is:
The Junior and Senior spelling champions represented our school at the Premier's Spelling Bee Regional finals on Tuesday 4 August. Held over Zoom, the finals tested not only students’ spelling knowledge but also their memory and composure under stress. Both finals included at least 30 schools and switching between different schools on screen created a sense of suspense and excitement.
Ching-Lun (Aaron) H (Eucalyptus 3) represented us in the Junior regionals final which had some extremely difficult words even in the early rounds. Congratulations Aaron!
Yi (Daniel) D (Solar 2) made it to Round 6 in the fiercely competitive Senior regionals final, which included some very tricky unseen words. Congratulations Daniel!

We are delighted to congratulate Effie J and Perlina Z on their outstanding participation in the 2026 Sydney North Singers program. Throughout the program, both students demonstrated exceptional commitment to rehearsals and performances, showing enthusiasm, reliability, and a willingness to contribute. Their respectful and courteous behaviour consistently reflected great pride in representing our school.
A particular highlight was their remarkable performance at the Sydney NorthWest Music Festival, where Effie and Perlina showcased their talents beautifully as part of the ensemble. Their dedication to preparing for this event is a wonderful reflection of their individual hard work and commitment.
We are proud of Effie and Perlina’s achievements and look forward to their continued success!

Shortly after the start of our prefect-run Art Club, the school captains and vice captains launched their student-run Handball club. Armed with a whistle and enthusiastic SRC helpers, they successfully ran multiple sessions throughout the week, focusing on a different stage each day. This group of leaders have shown organisation, creativity, energy and dedication and will continue to run the handball club each week until the end of the year. When they are on Year 6 camp, the SRC will continue to run the club. Well done Miru, Angie, Mason and Chloe.
