Author Visit Highlights: Samy Bayly Inspires Kindergarten and Stage 1 & 2
We were delighted to welcome award-winning author and illustrator Samy Bayly to Chatswood Public School last week. Samy spent an engaging hour with each Kindergarten and Year 1 & 2 class in the library, sharing stories about her journey as an author and illustrator. The students were captivated by her funny anecdotes and creative process. The visit concluded with a fun drawing lesson, where the children got hands-on experience bringing their own illustrations to life!
Looking ahead, Stage 3 students are eagerly anticipating next week’s visit from children’s author and illustrator Zanni Louise. They will have the opportunity to explore the world of storytelling and illustration, gaining insight into how picture books are crafted from concept to finished story.
We look forward to more inspiring learning experiences with these talented authors!
The Importance of Engaging with Your Local and School Library
Libraries are more than just places to borrow books, they are vibrant community hubs that support learning, creativity, and connection. By engaging with your school library, students have access to a wide range of resources, activities, and support from teachers and staff. The library is a welcoming space where children can discover new interests, develop research skills, and foster a love of reading.
Visiting your local library offers even more opportunities. Public libraries host a variety of programs, workshops, and holiday activities for the whole family. They provide access to a broader collection of books, e-resources, and community events. Connecting with your local library encourages lifelong learning and helps build a sense of community beyond the school gates.
We encourage all our families to make regular visits to both the school library and local library. Together, they offer endless possibilities for learning, fun, and growth!
