Mrs Ryan's Fortnightly Reflections

“You’re only as good as the people you have around you.” John C. Maxwell

Welcome to Week 9. I hope this message finds you all well.

In Jasmine’s absence, myself and Brent have shared the role of Acting Principal. While it was not unknown to us, we have been reassured of the commitment and support our staff show to each other and the learners in front of them. We trust you all enjoyed the long weekend, taking time to recharge.

Last week we sent out Stage Two Enrolment Acceptance letters to our 2025 Foundation families. It has been wonderful meeting with prospective families, learning about our future learners, and answering questions. We look forward to welcoming our new students and families to our school community.

As we navigate the challenges of the winter season, I want to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible resilience and flexibility shown by our entire school community. The strain of increased staff absences due to winter illnesses could have significantly disrupted our daily routines, but thanks to the adaptability and cooperation of both staff and students, we have managed to maintain a positive and productive learning environment.

As we approach the end of the term, our staff members are working tirelessly to complete the Semester One reports. These reports are a vital tool in understanding and reflecting on each learner’s progress. Our teachers are deeply engaged in analysing data and considering each child's learning dispositions to provide personalised and informative insights. This careful and thoughtful process ensures that the reports are not only comprehensive but also meaningful to each learner’s educational journey. Reports will be released via Compass in Week 11.

As communicated previously, the front vacant block has been fenced off. We have, however, ensured that there is still a small walkway available for foot traffic. This means that the Foundation gate will remain open at the end of the day, providing another convenient exit for families to use after school. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time.

Next week our staff will engage in a Data Day. Each team will spend a day collaborating and looking forward to next term. This day provides staff with the opportunity to meet with our Leaders of Pedagogy and begin planning and preparing learning activities for Term 3. Your child will participate in the Specialist program on this day, rotating between the five specialist subjects.

Our Year 5 and 6 learners will engage in the Life Changer Program next week. This program is aimed to build social, emotional and resilience skills, and community connections. Our Year 5 learners will work as a group with a focus on leadership. Our Year 6 classes will work in smaller groups where they will discuss friendships and how to navigate change. We look forward to engaging in this program which will also continue in Terms 3 and 4.

As is tradition, we will celebrate our TERRIFIC Kid assembly on the last day of term. This assembly will be led by our Specialist team with a showcase on learning from our junior STEM classes. As well as acknowledging our Term 2 TERRIFIC Kids, we will also celebrate and acknowledge the recipients of our Graduate Outcome award ‘Celebrate.’ All are welcome to attend. Assembly will begin at 12:30pm.

Warm regards,

Rebecca Lloyd.
