Interschool Sports and School Based Sports

This semester we say farewell to the Interschool Sports (ISS) and School Based Sports (SBS) programs on Friday mornings.

Our School Based Sports this year has provided many opportunities for those students who are not involved in Inter-School Sports to get active outdoors and participate in many activities some students may have never had an opportunity to play.

This term the students were able to get a feel for the game of Lacrosse through our SBS coaching program brought to us by Deanne Montague-Buchanan from Quick Stix Victoria. We continued our off site activities with SBS students attending the Leisure City excursion as well as playing Lawn Bowls at the local Epping RSL club, who again provided an excellent environment for the students to learn the game. On site, students enjoyed other sports such as Volleyball, T-Ball and Soccer.

In our ISS program, we put forward 10 teams across the 3 winter sports, AFL footy, Netball and European Handball. We were able to field A and B mixed  AFL teams, four A and B Girls Netball teams and four A and B Boys and Girls European Handball teams.

All Epping Views teams played with terrific team values and fair play and had good success across all the competitions. A massive shout-out to the Netball B Girls 1’s and 2’s teams who both finished first in their respective competitions! Well done to all EVPS students involved in ISS, the results can be viewed below.

Next semester we look forward to a term of Gala Days in various sports beginning with our AFL Girls/Netball Boys Day in the first week of term 3. Other district sports days include Volleyball, Tennis and Hockey amongst others, not to mention a big district Athletics Day in August.

A big thank you to all the Grade 5 and 6 teachers this term for their efforts in facilitating, refereeing and scoring games. Well done to all the students and teams involved, we look forward to seeing everyone next term.
