It was International Father's Mental Health Day yesterday so we want to remind you on the importance of mental health, especially if you're a new father, or about to become one!
Fatherhood is an exciting journey but it doesn't come without its challenges, which includes impacts on mental health.
1 in 10 new dads will experience anxiety and/or depression when they become a father and in the first post-partum year.
It's important we look out for one another, and prioritise mental health. If something seems off with a mate - check in. If you find something feels 'off' within yourself, we encourage you to seek support as soon as possible.
1. Have a variety of interestsEngaging in a variety of interests (work, family, sports, hobbies) and doing things you enjoy.
2. Learn skills
To cope with stress, anxiety, anger management and relaxation techniques.
3. You're not alone
You are never alone - don't ever think you have to tough it out on your own. Seek support from those close to you or from a professional.
