Year 4 Steiner

Celebrating Learning

The Animal Kingdom

We have had the opportunity as a class to explore the animals of our world through the lens of our human form. Students have been learning about different animals in Main Lesson that may be categorised as being nervous and sensory, very much being protective like our heads, or perhaps flexible or replicating our spine in the way most trunk creatures like centipedes would behave, and finally the creatures that have amazing abilities with their limbs like swinging, jumping and chasing.

Students in class four have been smelling, observing, touching their environment and carefully listening for the sounds of the world that surrounds them to better gauge our human senses. Below are some amazing images and work from the students as well as their own thoughts on the Main Lesson thus far. Following this Main Lesson we will have some holidays and return to look at wonderful Maori stories, particularly many of those featuring the mighty Maui.

Jethro says “I really like learning about the human body, and how it relates to animal bodies.”

Teo says “I like that there's different types of animals connected to the head, trunk and limbs in relation to the human body.”
Delilah says “I liked drawing all of the animals that we learnt about.”

Eva says “I like drawing the animals, and I think the facts are very useful for my learning.”

Penny says “I have enjoyed this more than the others because it is more interesting.”
