The Trial Athletics Carnival is tomorrow Friday 21st June. This event is for Years 2 - 6 only. The students are bussed at various times to the Athletics Centre to run the 100m and 200m events only. The purpose of the day is to determine who will be in the timed Championship Events on the day of the actual School Athletics Carnival (Thursday week 1, Term 3).

Years 3 - 6 will be carrying out both shot put and long jump over the coming weeks at school to determine Championship Events and Year 2 will participate in these events the day of the trial.

Thank you to the parents who have offered to help on the day of the trial. Please see the Timetable below which has also been emailed.

Polding Trials for Touch Football

Last Friday, St Edward's had five students travel to Forbes to trial in the Polding Touch Football Trials. The Diocesan teams played extremely well and displayed excellent sportsmanship.

The Girls Team Manager, Bella Rasche, received some heart warming feedback from a parent from an opposing Diocese, “The Armidale team has presented exceptional sportsmanship and manners throughout the tournament, it is a credit to their families and schools.” How great it is to hear feedback like this! Well done to Isabella Hamilton and Josh Spinks (St Xavier's Primary School, Gunnedah) and Dylan Cooper (St Edward's Primary School, Tamworth) who made the Possibles and Probables but unfortunately did not get named in the Polding side. Congratulations to all players and a BIG thank you to Mr Sam Casson and Miss Bella Rasche for sharing your knowledge and expertise to the students as our Team Managers.

Heidi Hardaker, ADPSC Coordinator K-6.

Polding Trials for Softball

Arlo Bullock represented the Armidale Diocese today at the NSWCPS Softball Trials. With 52 boys on trial from the Polding region, Arlo was up against some tough competition but played so well and certainly did our Diocese very proud. Congratulations Arlo and Eloise.

Penrith Netball Trip

Is your child interested in trialling for a St Edward's Netball team to represent our school in Sydney to compete in the Catholic Schools Netball Championships this September?

This annual excursion for our Netball teams allows our students to represent their school against other schools from around Sydney and regional areas.

The Penrith Netball trip will occur in Term 3 on the 2nd & 3rd September, 2024.

We will be taking:

1x 8/9yr team

1x 10yr team

1x 11yr team

2x 12 yr teams

We will be holding trials at recess on:

Friday Week 9 (28/6/2024) 8/9 & 10 yrs

Friday Week 10 (5/7/2024) 11 & 12 yrs

If your child is interested in playing, but won't be here for either trial, please email myself (Mrs Gippel) so I can find an alternate time to watch them play on a Saturday in the local competition: nmcculloch@arm.catholic.edu.au

Toni Palmer Memorial Shield

A Compass event for the Toni Palmer Memorial Shield was sent out yesterday for all boys in Years 3-6 who play or have played Rugby League. This event will take place in Inverell on Thursday 4th July and students will be required to make their own way to and from Inverell.  This event is very popular, therefore the students whose consent I have received first on Compass, will be the students who will be in the team.  Please ensure you consent if this is something your child is interested in. If you do not wish your child to participate, please decline the event.

St Edward's Representative Shirts

Please keep a lookout for these in your cupboards, school bags, dirty clothes baskets, even under beds. We are still missing a considerable amount of shirts which will be required to be handed back in this term.
