Principal Reflections

Dear Parents and Carers,

Assessing and Reporting Cycle for Semester 1

Engaging with your child when they receive their Semester 1 Report is crucial for several reasons.

Firstly, it provides an opportunity for parents/carers to demonstrate their interest and involvement in their child's academic progress, which can significantly boost the child's motivation and self-esteem. When children see that their parents/carers care about their achievements and challenges, they are more likely to take their studies seriously and strive to improve.

Secondly, reviewing the report together allows parents to gain a comprehensive understanding of their child's strengths and areas that need improvement. This can help in identifying any underlying issues, such as learning difficulties or social problems, that might be affecting their performance. By addressing these concerns early, parents can seek appropriate interventions or support in consultation with their child's teacher, to help them succeed.

Moreover, discussing the report can open up lines of communication between parents/carers, teachers and children. It creates a space for children to express their feelings about school, share their successes, and voice their struggles. This dialogue can foster a supportive and trusting relationship, making it easier for children to approach their parents with any future academic or personal issues.

Finally, setting goals based on the Semester 1 Report can be an effective way to encourage continuous improvement. Teachers, children and parents/carers can work together to establish realistic and achievable targets for the next semester, creating a sense of direction and purpose. This goal-setting process teaches children valuable skills in planning, time management, and self-assessment, which are essential for lifelong learning and personal development.

Semester One Reports go live to parents via Compass at 3.00pm on Thursday 27th June.

The students have been busily practising over the past few weeks and their hard work and dedication is clearly evident. Thank you to Mrs Mavin, Mrs Press and Mrs Pearson for supporting the students as they have prepared their poems for the competition. Good luck everyone!

School Fees

School fees directly support the operational costs of St Edward's School. These fees contribute to the maintenance and improvement of school facilities, ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment. They also enable the procurement of essential resources, as well as technological tools to support and enhance your child's learning experience. Thank you in advance for your continued support of St Edward's through the consistent payment of school fees.

Until next week,

Keep smiling,

Alison Hatton
